The main problem here is my dropshot + net coverage tactic. You don't even have to read the whole post.
Set 1: After asking him to rehost with lower delay (117<<<67) we started our final. I gotta admit I was prepared to lose the match, because his elo has improved so much and i always lose to him and few other guys who are very similar in style. Baseliners. Good ones.
Few things happened, i made mistakes too many orange volley errors. His counter dropshots caught me off guard. I lose the set 6-2. Total domination by him. No chance for me.
Set 2: Nothing changed he broke me once score was 4-2. Up until this point I was volleying quite often with few dropshots here and there. As I said before it didn't work. He ran up the court, did a counter dropshot. I couldn't pass him or win the point. He was just fast as expected. So I tweaked my tactics slightly. When I did dropshot, I backed it up with going to the net and took care of my points. 2 games later 5-3. He's serving for the match. I guess I had some moment of inspiration and broke him back at 30-40 with a passing shot. The match continued, I had one chance to brake him later again but he saved it with an ace. Tie-break began. I won 7-4.
Set 3: I'm guessing all my offensive gestures and what he called cheesy play annoyed him enough. Either his level dropped or I started guessing better. He had no chance. I broke him once when it was 2-2 I think. From then on I just held my serve and finished up the matchpoint with a short slice in 38 shot rally

Conclusion: According to magav everything changed from 4-2 when I started backing up my dropshots with net play.
Up until that point he won like 9 points from my dropshots. I couldn't afford to give away my advantage to him.
------Also he claimed I used at least 10 short slices. I don't agree with that. I only used 1 short slice at the very end in matchpoint. Up until then he used 4 short slices. Since I was very active at the net, I always played closer to the baseline so his short slices didn't trouble me. When I did use short slice it was very short.
Now during the game I was forced to slice a lot. Some of them landed deep some of them were short or average. But I can't do short slice on the run. It's not a defensive shot for me. Just offensive.
I know it sounds like I played a cheesy game, but again I disagree with it. My style is net play and dropshots.
I can confidently say I camped at the net. His style was like everyone else's. He put the ball back in play and his movement allows him to move better than I do. I was never good at baseline rallies. But he operated fro very deep outside the court so that allowed me to freely enter service boxes and punish him.

As you can see, I did many dropshots. He actually came to the net only like 6-7 times. The rest are my dropshots brining him in. I was so active at the net. Almost half of my winners came from the net. I had like 7 smashes as well.
