djarvik wrote:Good that you mentioned it. The game can really be had for a few dollars now. I suggest to everyone who never played it and is looking for a deeper version of TS4, which more complexity and strategy - go out and buy it. It will take time to learn though, although the basis that TS4 gives will help you to start quickly. Be prepared to give up a bit of graphics and animations. Although there are more core animations there.

....it really seems now that I think about it, that TS3 is a reasonable progress to TS4. Sorta that TS4 is a tutorial and the first step, while TS3 is the evolution. They should have released the games in that order, TS4 first, then TS3.

I agree with everything you just said, I am a little worried the people that have only played TS4 when they play TS3 they might give up a little too easy considering its not as pick up and play like TS4. But if they stick with it, it can give you some of the most amazing matches and fun ever on a tennis game. Learning the mechanics of risking can be frustrating but one can learn and teach themselves to be competitive fairly quickly.

Ts4 really only has superior graphics. I would say literally every other advantage goes to ts3.

Edit: have you guys actually ever thought about running it again at least until a console game worth buying comes along? I think a lot of guys frustrated with ts4 would enjoy it.

The thing that frustrates me in Ts4 is that there is zero unforced errors and its too easy to pull of great shots. Ts3 there is risk involved using risk buttons and timing is key. Its so simple to fix, too soon goes out and too late hits the net. How hard is it? Because there is no risk buttons the risk should of been immaculate timing.

I also hate that they fudged the serve and volley mechanics of the game completely, my player always gets stuck at the T of the service box even after a well placed serve and a poor return. My player likes to hit a ground stroke not even a half volley.. Ts3 however my well placed serve leads to either a poor return for a put away, a great passing return, a hard return with a controlled volley into open court which sparks a rally. You won't find this in ts4 its insanely hard to finish a point with serve and volley even with high volley stat unless you drop volley which is then seen as cheese. The game is just broken, more than ts3 anyway.

I switched to baselining in ts4 to be slightly competitive on any level and it seems that I'm not up to scratch. I get a few games but I'm hardly competitive. I hope ts5 brings back ts3 mechanics with some sort of risking and more simulated tennis.

Edit; I just deleted the ts4 patch and serve and volley isn't broken then what the? Why did they break it!?

I think he was like a pro gamer, and just decided to completely master TS3 before moving onto another game. he was insane barely ever lost. I remember coke4 beating him though.

ts3 was good days. lots of characters with unique play styles on the tour, the serve and volley players had their own rivalries, many great matches with soundfsilence, tombs, brgrflipr, the best volleyer of them all (slIghtly better than me :p) darkpaladin and biggest rivals coke4 and Fedfan. also had 2 of my best gaming experiences on ts3, beating MaX_ 6-1 6-7 4-6 7-6 7-6, and reremeyer at the US open coming back from 4-6 2-6 1-4 down and 2-6 in th tiebreak to win 4-6 2-6 7-6 6-4 6-4.

Have been playing ts3 a fair amount recently. I know a tournament was created a few months back but it didn't get enough sign ups. Real shame.

What about Baghdad and Zizou ? Would they be interested ?

I think it'd be great if they suggest in the TS4 general forum that anyone willing to try TS3 considering it is cheap and get a tournament going. If the interest is big the tour should come back. Ts3 is such a better tennis game

I love ts3. Had some really memorable matches with djarkvik and rob when I first started the tour and always liked playing joesixtoe back in the day. Same with Baghdad, fun matches.

sim tour was nice. Was better at 90-40 tour but sim tour produced the more fun matches

Awww I'm Ps3 player :( I have an xbox downstairs but it doesn't have live. I don't even have my ts3 disc yet. I got the box but lost the disc, ordered a new one yesterday though for £2 so cheap!

Edit; Disc arrived today woop

Super rusty too, volleying is so much better in ts3 but im used to ts4 at the moment so annoying.

the ball hitting the net?
Never underestimate the pain of a person, because in all honesty, everyone is struggling. Some people are just better at hiding it than others.

 I think he means the running forehand risk winner. Nice shot BTW!

Puttu is the master of the running shot like that. I always tens up when I stretch him wide, he can risk down the line and cross with good consistency.

That I did, back in the day 8)

I think you are right about the pro gamer thing, but i feel he left because he started losing, i think after I beat him two or three more beat him shortly afterwards, so he realised his days were numbered.

But yes, bring back TS3.

Errors? yes! I played a match recently and there were more errosrs in your average game than you would see in a whole TS4 Match!
