Rob ITST wrote:I think when it happens, you can usually avoid it by moving just one step closer to the ball. Also, if you have high volley stats (or maybe you need Spectacular Volleys, because I've done it with Sampras) you can still put the ball away, even when you do the "twirl".
i have hit the slam dunk with my player you have to time it though i feel with many shots in this game certain animations for shots need you to be in the correct position and timing i noticed this with my approach shots and bh half volleysRob ITST wrote:I wouldn't be surprised if pros had unique animations. TS1 had this with a few pros (Hewitt's jumping backhand was probably the most well known). I've noticed that when you hit the tweener with Federer, some animation takes over, and I've hit Sampras' slam dunk overhead that I doubt is possible with any custom character or other pro.
And actually, I don't even think the pro's stats and skills are necessarily entirely accurate. In other words, if you created a character with the same stats/skills/height/weight/etc, I don't think they would play the same. Sampras seems to me like he has more power than his stats suggest, especially on flat shots; Nadal seems to hit with more topspin than anyone else....

Obviously lag effects any match, but S&V requires you to have quick reflexes on the volleys and lag can just make it impossible to play that style.
Although I'm much better at S&V than anything else, so I still put up a better fight even with lag than I do trying to play another style.
Rob ITST wrote:I can get used to the timing in lag - the worst part is when your player stops halfway to the net while the connection catches up.
My biggest nightmare is playing 2K Open against a Nadal in lag. Nadal is tough enough because he has good speed/strokes, but when he teleports and his reach swing skill kicks in, you get a much harder pass than you expected.
