You understand me 100%! We really shouldn't play when the lag is that bad that you can't block a simple Jump in Roundhouse to Crouch Roundhouse. Sometimes I doubt myself, but then then next game, against another opponent where there is no lag I can block fine. So it MUST be the lag!
BTW I tried out a new tactic tonight that worked against a bunch of people....you know how every character has a couple ideal 'opening moves' just like chess??? Seriously, once the round starts, try just walking straight up to the other guy and THROWING his ass!
Oh yes, I have tried this and it's funny when it works
I've only just got to grips that when you get a knockdown, you have many options available. Previously, if I get a knockdown I move back to compose myself (and do nothing until they get up). Now I know you have to take advantage of a knockdown, either perform a meatie attack or bait their reversal or cross them up or throw!
A good Blanka is so very tough to fight against. In SF4, he probably has the best Focus attack. His Ultra takes huge damage. I've recently figured out if you get a throw with Blanka (bite), then while the opponent is on a knockdown, you can directly use the Ultra and the electric ball will land on them when they wakeup, if they failed to do a reversal.
Playing against mid / high tier shows me there is so much more in the game. They make you feel helpless... and it all happens so fast, it's like you're always defending.
Who are your worst matchups? I find it tough to face:
Blanka
Bison (Dictator)
Balrog
Bison's headstomp really p*ss me off
