No risk shots + SIM

Postby mindlogix » Thu, 28 Jan 2010 18:46

I just think there should be an option for no risk shots on the baseline. It's much more challenging and realistic.

I like the idea of risk shots and taking chances but the way it's implemented into the game makes it boring. It's mostly the power risk shot that is way too easy to take advantage of. Most people can't go further than 5 shots without hitting the triggers. If all characters were limited to 50 power and under, then maybe you could play a decent rally and construct a point but i don't see that happening :( I guess it's a trade off i'm willing to make.

Here is the thing....50 power won't solve RT risking. Power seem to do very little with risking. Risk will be almost as powerful with 50 power as with 70.

With new SIM rules, the rallies are much longer then 5 shots....and that is including risking.

Actually I love the way risk is implemented into TS3, no stupid meters or anything....but....they are too easy to hit, especially on the move, run. There is also an element of "pre-pressing".....which combined with a 90 stroke will give a shot that is powerful and will look like risk.

If pressing the button means (like game says) back swing, prepare to hit.....then why are we able to press the button before the opponent hits the ball? ....that is the real problem. The button should only be "on" after the opponent hits his shot.....if you press and hold earlier, it should simply not work, not execute the swing.

Also, once you do press it, running should not be possible....well...at least not as fast....so are direction changes. Imagine yourself in real life tennis, bringing your racket back right after hiting a shot....and then try moving with your racket in back swing position. Not easy.

So what happens is, players hit a shot, then immediatly press and hold the shot button again, and do it over and over again. Combine with a 90 stroke, and good movement, these players hit hard and hardly miss....they don't risk.

It is a in game problem with no solution.

Imagine how cool would it be if you could press a button only after opponent shots? .....want a hard shot? Risk! Otherwise it will be a floater.

I do find that you move much slower if you press the button early. I try to play exactly as you said:

....press a button only after opponent shots .....want a hard shot? Risk!

Only when I have my opponent on the run will I press early, but even then I try not to over do it since I prefer to choose my shot based on where my opponent hits his shot.

...that brings me to another problem LB.

oh boy, do you hear that? ....I think Anil is coming to plug DMT.

You right Rob, they do seem to move a bit slower, but simply not enough. I would even say that they react a bit slower, but run actually faster.... somehow....especially if RT is pressed....then your player somehow zooms into position.

weird stuff.

With a taller guy with more muscel and less stamina, L1 will wear you out fast.

Even with high stamina guys you can go into red for a point or two after a long defensive rally with high use of L1

Indeed muscel is very important.

There is an effect, no doubt....but not enough.

leave me alone!!!!!!!!!

My keyboard sucks your 1 inch penis righty? Its hard to type with it ;)

Im just talking about general body shape, a guy like bashmakov with lowish stamina will tire much quicker than a guy with high stamina if you use L1. High stamina guy who is short will still be red after using l1 during a point, but it has less effect on him overall than the tall guy!
