well there are many great ideas.

I kind of still stick with my original idea.
But i do also like the idea that if you have a 100 on one the rest should be atleast 60 or one on 90 the rest should be atleast 50...

I wouldn't though the risk shots. Specially i pepople have lower stats and the shots will not be like a risk, a risk shots to change speed sounds good to me .

I am happy there is a good response .

Yes, it will happen. Therefore creating a (sim) tour with limitations in character creation looks good to me. Don't forget we can still keep the still existing tour, without these limits, as well. I also think the number of players we have really is enough to introduce a second tour.
I guess not allowing risk shots won't be possible in any way though, since you can never be really sure if a shot was a risk shot or not.

Why you find it funny? for mind game I mean good tactic, tennis is not only bam-bam and this game, like TS2 (at last top spin 2 has evolved to purely mind game) also

To get this discussion forward i suggest some members try out a few matches with these limitations. If then the guys that have 100 on power/fh/bh and speed still outclass every other possible character having such a tour is unnecessary and we could perhaps look further in the 90 max idea.

-Forehand 80
-Backhand 80
-Service 70
-Return 80
-Volley 50
-Power 85
-Speed 60
-Stamina 50

That is basically my character from what I can remember. I have 5 points missing, and I cannot remember where I put them. All my stats are 50+, and I have made my guy fairly balanced. This to me would play a really good match. Of course a volly player would lower some things and put more on volly.

Sorry, but wouldn't this change result in characters being more the same rather than less? I mean you're forcing the allocation of 400 out of 560 possible points before a person can do any customizing to their liking.

Give the game some months at least before benning stuff!

Postby antus » Fri, 11 Jul 2008 20:41

Come on - the game has been out only for a few weeks, and we still do not know of there even exists an optimal xp-allocation!

Give us a couple of months to try various strategies, and then if certain allocations really are unbeatable.

Even then - suppose we all put power on 100: will this necessarily imply the game has become boring?

Try to beat you opponents before banning him!

guys with 100 on serve ,100 speed, 100 power....and 30 on stamina... suck bcs they serve wide at 130mph and still hit like RAMBO the ENTIRE game despite a looming heart attack....

totally unrealistic.

I second ANILTJE's proposal.

My character will have 90 max and 50 min per attribute.
Hope most of you follow me.

:D I'm not negative , but I think maybe os too early to take decision like this, anyway a tour with limited stats is good for me, the important thing is just everyone respect it for made it equilibrate

another idea

Postby Alkheimer » Sat, 12 Jul 2008 00:52

If you all want to have a realistic game...I think no stats should be higher as level 85 or 90 (Maitre Kax has this idea, too). With a power-100-player, you have got very, very short rallys...this matches are boring to play (it doesn´t matter if you´re a classic player or not...you only have a chance with risk shots...but with these shots, the rallys are just even shorter)!!! And this fact will definitely remain unchanged in the future!!! With this change...we´ll get faschinating and longer matches respectively.

The minimum-stats are not sooo important in my eyes.

An other problem are these fu**ing inside-out-services, when the opponent goes outwards (oh, my English is marvelous today *g*). I think it would be a good rule, that it´s not allowed to move your character before the service. For the SIM-Tour...I think it´s important to forbid the LT-service (RT is ok and easy to return) and the service with the right stick.

We all will go mad with this odd game!!!

So, I see three possible rules. Minimum of 50 on all stats, minimum of 50 and maximum of 90, or only one stat can have 90 or more.

The other idea where you can have 30 or 40 points difference between highest and lowest - that would require looking at your opponents stats and subtracting lowest from highest before each match. That's asking too much I think.

I still like the third option best (only one stat can have 90 or more). Like I said, no pro has Federer's forehand, Agassi's backhand, and Roddick's serve. So it's pretty realistic.

The reason I don't like the minimum 30 rule. Have you ever seen Roddick volley? I'd give him less than 30 on this game. How about Hewitt's power? Less than 50 there imo. Dementieva's serve? Do I even need to comment on that?

Also, what if someone wants to make a character with only 40 on power, forehand, or backhand? Does anyone have a problem with that?

So if we want a 'sim' tour, one that's realistic, then I really only like the third option. It solves the 100 on fh, bh, power, and serve problem while still allowing for diverse characters.

what if we can make a character with max 90 points (not more of this) on just one skill? for me it's a good option
