A shovel? No but perhaps a gentle reminder is what I can offer you.

All i see is a downward chart since he "peaked" at 21 and since then its been one-way-traffic. He's a fantastic player, don't get me wrong, but to beat Nadal is wishful thinking.

With all due respect to Gulbis, he's more of a "never-was" than a "has-been." :o

Exactly.

GeilerPferd, next thing you will say is how good his one-handed Backhand is. 8)

Seriously though, if you follow the guy even a bit, you know that not only he "never-was", he also has more then enough talent to spank Rafa. To say that a player like him doesn't have a chance against Rafa on Hard court, or its wishful thinking is a bit off. Especially considering the factors outlined above.

Is he the favorite? ...no way. But does he have a chance, and a better then ever chance? Hell yeah!

He's like a younger, faster, more versatile version of Safin. Just a shame he also seems to have the same problems mentally... Hopefully he can get consistently good, and maybe he'll be able to at least equal Safin.

I can tell you are getting quite emotional (pls lay off the jabs, coming from a moderator it looks juvenile) about this topic so I'll lay off for now and let Nadal and his racquet do my talking for me.

5-0 coming up.

The irony: depending on how Nadal's knee holds out long-term, he could be the "has-been" in this Nadal/Gulbis equation. :P

I don't think I have a choice.

I feel i've been the one to point out the obvious; a declining ranking, 4 previous losses to Nadal, physical and mental inferiority...the list goes on. If I was wrong, then why would the average odds across all book makers currently be c. 40 cents on the dollar for Nadal to win...

Your comments, on the other hand, have an aggressive tilt to them; one in particular you implied I do not know anything about Gulbis (eg. the one-handed b/h comment). Most of your statements in this thread are followed by emoticons, generally those trying to support your preceding statement. This indicates the writings of a subject with an increasingly nervous disposition. This is why I decided to lay off as you were getting uncomfortable and i'm not in the mood to enter a debate about what is, in the end, a done deal: Nadal wins, Gulbis loses.

Another attack. Classy.

Needless to say, it makes sense now why you're a fan of Gulbis.

What happen to your nice "GP Psy.D, PH.D Psychology " Signature? You felt compelled to post it before, why not now? ...was your last response not worthy of it

Don't try to analyze me. I am afraid you are incapable and border line inappropriate. Try to enjoy yourself, this was a fun discussion/banter (whatever you want to call it) until you took down your phd from the wall and shoved it in my Smiley face.

Here is a smiley for ya! :D

I don't mean to be rude (although you don't seem to be trying to make an effort to be nice) but wouldn't you say it is you who is incapable of holding a discussion without hurling insults? In my eyes that translates to being inappropriate.

And yes, it was fun, until my view conflicted with yours and sadly, it became personal.

As a pointer, given my background in Psychology, I don't need to "try" to analyse you. I already have; it's 2nd nature. But I assure you, you don't want me here to list my professional opinion.

Have a nice evening and here's a clip for you to enjoy:

I guess me making fun of your bold prediction is considered an insult by you. Or was it me making fun of how much you know about the guy?

This is a discussion about the match outcome, it is expected for us to disagree. Also, if you followed mine or everyone else's posts here, you know there is a lot of humor in most of them, especially in Tennis section. Are you that insecure to consider my comments as "insults"? (Now this was a bit of passive aggressive insult, but at this point I feel I have the right).

You attempt to analyze me then question my professionalism in a gaming forum with tennis subject and quite clearly a fun environment. Don't you think it seems odd if anything?
