Strongest Tier One Player

Postby djarvik » Wed, 10 Oct 2012 21:49

"Who do you think is the strongest from Tier One players and why?"

This is not a "favorite" player poll, rather who is in your opinion is the strongest and the reason behind it.

I will set the format first. Remember, these are simply opinions, they are meant to illustrate what each of us has problems with now, for me - it's returns. So my opinion may be evolving around that. :)

R. Federer
Why? - Fast, FH is unplayable.
Best counter: I think the best would be either Isner or Raonic. The serve can take you all the way up to tie break, where a good gamble can payoff.
Level 13 Edberg and counting...

Federer, he has motions which are easy to trigger and a killer service + forehand. Also his netplay is more than decent.
His backhand is of course a weakness, but in TE unfortunately the one handed backhand isn't a drawback on spin balls.
The counter should be Nadal's spin to Federer BH, but like I said above that tactic is difficult to play in TE.
Best counter in my experience is Berdych, who can hit trough Federer.

I honestly think that Fed was the best player by far since now. But with the new update, it's not sure at all : his service became a serious inconvenient (low first serve %) and his wings aren't that difficult to counter anymore.

Nadal seems in contrary really more interesting since the update ; and regarding that, I think he may represent the best counter to Fed with his Spin stats (huge FH with spin and speed against the low BH of Fed).

Raonic & the big servers become also more interesting ; I think Berdych is maybe the best player of the lineup :p

I thought BH with single Hand had a malus on top spin balls ? I think it's written in the readme.txt

In my experience if Federer get a high hitting point on his backhand and the positioning is perfect he can just hammer the ball down the line.
I haven't read the readme.txt

From me personal experience, i think Roger with this last update is not a great as he was before, but i think a lot of this happenned to a lot of players.

Federer is not as devastating with his forehand, and he is also slower than he was in the previous update.

Watching the numbers i think Djokovic is better off the ground, if only i could get used to a two handed player in this game o:)

Have never used Murray but it remains to be seen. I will try to test them better.

BTW - just for the record  I was talking about post-update Federer. And I suggest we all do, discuss players at their latest level, as it may vary from update to update :c
