Test match against BOB-L-EPONGE

Postby Ary1g » Thu, 29 Mar 2012 03:06

I just had a great match against Bob!

Clocking in at 1 hour and 7 minutes, we battled a very close match, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3. It was loads of fun and the score don't tell how close and intense it really was. I believe he used David Gallo. I used Masaki Moriya.

In the first set we traded games once, before he got the break against me at 4-4. I made some bad choices of play in that game. Attacking the net on bad approaches and S&V on bad serves. Small errors which Bob took advantage of to break. After that he served home the first set 4-6.

The second set started good for me. I got an early break to go up 3-1 and was able to get a double break to serve for the set at 5-2. However, Bob played air tight, breaking back to 5-3. He then served a love game to 5-4 and I had my second chance to take the set. This time I was able to control my nerves better and finished off the second set 6-4.

After a 1-2 minute break we started the third set. After a 5-10 minute opening game, he was able to hold his serve. After that my level dropped a bit, while his stayed up. He broke my serve and went on to hold his serve leaving me 0-3 behind. At the brink of giving up the match, I made a last effort to focus my serve game and was able to hold to 1-3. Without much hope left in me I was looking to break back as fast as possible. Fortunately for me, Bob wasn't able to get his first serves effective in this game and I broke back. After that I held serve and was able to break him again(still not getting efficient first serves). Then after a long and tough service game I managed to hold serve to 5-3. Bob then fought of 2 match points before I was able to take the third set 6-3.

Very intense match with highs and lows from both players. Could have gone either way really. Very happy with my net play in this match, scoring 23/35 net points.

These rules seems amazing. I have a very all-round build of Moriya and being competitive against a 89 power Gallo gives me very high hopes for these rules. It have to be mentioned that I felt like the only way to beat Bob on serve, was if his level dropped and I played my best. If I didn't anticipate his shots well, there was nothing I could do with him other than hoping he would mistime his shots.

Here's stats of my Federer inspired Moriya:
Slice Invasion, Wrong Foot Expert
82/62 wings
86 serve
55 volley
66 power
66 stamina
57 speed
61 reflexes

Would be great if you could post stats of your Gallo, Bob :)

Looking forward to play Rabari and Neuwirth with these rules.

Piece of advice, I know a federer setup which dominates this setup in every way:

9-11-0 Durech

FH 84
BH 64
SRV 83
VOL 59
PWR 71
STA 60 (only weakness, but you can make this more with other combinations)
SPE 66
REF 63

Even includes inside out master

Does anyone else get the "Creating identical players that actually play different" thing? im not sdure if its in my head, but it definetely happened on top spin 3, and im sure it does now. Try it, make 2 identical plays and play with both, one will play a bit different to the other!!

IM SURE

@Villa

 Here we go again......

I have a different feeling, my players "go bad", much like milk. :? I feel I need to redo them from time to time :? All except one, my Mikhail Youzhny. He seems to be the "wine" type, getting better with age. :?

Dead serious  about the Youzhny. But this is not because he is getting better, but rather me liking playing with him. So when I play with styles I do not like, and then coming back to him - it feels great.

Better we test it thoroughly, and not with "all the new setups that can compete now" but with "all the old setups that are toned down now". We need to test the Extremes within the new rules, then test the tier two players in previous rules and make sure they are not too over powered etc....

....as of right now, I see people mostly try the the new setups, which is cool, but not my agenda. Hopefully when the actual tournaments begin, people will "compete" instead of "exploring".

Imo, Inside Out Master isn't very good compared to Wrong Foot Expert. The added power isn't better than the added precision when wrong footing your opponent with a perfect power shot of an inside out. Aslo WFE works on every shot (volleys, slices, topspin, flats, drops) if you successfully wrong foot your opponent(which however isn't always as easy to do as an inside out). With Slice invasion you can always defend well from both wings because your slices get better. Federer has a very nice slice too, so I think that skill fits well.

What other skills do Durech have? Or is he a silver coach? Don't remember right now.

I think it's very true that identical setups play differently. Control shots with Grody doesn't feel the same as control shots with Moriya imo(even though none of them has skills that directly affect control shots). Of course Moriyas control shots are more effective if you wrong foot your opponent, but I'm talking about control shots where your opponent anticipates the shots.

I'm happy with this Moriya build. I have the weapons needed to hold my serve relatively easy and his baseline skills fits my game very nice. Only weakness is stamina. However, if I choose my battles well and save stamina before my service games, I can control it quite allright. Not going to use a player with lower stamina than 65. It just too low for me, as I like being able to defend a lot if neccesary. Think I'm going to use Moriya or Grody in the tournament.

I'm competing in every match I play, Djarvik 8)

I use rabari with 15-4-1 (1 s&v).. I don't have coach calculator now. Will u plzz tell me that if 15-4-1 rabari is valid for this tournament or not?
