First, do you have any problem trying to play TS4 or is it just a question for fun ;)?

Normally, you don't have to redirect any port because the XBOX does it automaticaly thanks to UPnP protocol. The only reason you should forward a port to the XBOX is:
- you are experiencing problems trying to play TS4
- your router is too old and does not implementent port forwarding thanks to UPnP

Hope that help... If you still have problems, try to put your XBOX in DMZ mode, should solve the problem if any...

The PS3 works exactly like the XBOX for opening the port (UPnP) and the problem remains the same for the router. And if I'm right, PS3 also has a DMZ mode.

So he just needs to set it manually on the PS3...

It's not very easy as I'm not in front of his PS3 ;).
First, I would suggest to use his ISP DNS instead of generic ones.
Then, I would try to perform a ping from a computer in his network to the PS3 IP address (in the network address scheme i.e 192.168.x.y). If it doesn't ping, it's an inside network problem. In the other case, it would be very hard to debug but I would say that it comes from the router.
