High BH and FH stats with low power, unplayable?

Postby jayb1988 » Thu, 03 Nov 2011 20:27

Just got trounced by a new player to the tour called zguen, reckon he could be on his way to the top if his world tour stats are anything to go by.

Throughout the match I was pinned back behind the baseline and he was booming winners from all angles, even when I was in a seemingly rally winning position.

Why is it that players with high backhand and forehand seem to dominate in matches now? I just have no answer to it, and usually I am a decent defender during points.

If a player has very little power (in the low 50's) how is it possible that they can hit so many powerful and unreturnable shots? Whichever coach it is that zguen is using, it doesnt seem to have any drawbacks, with the high stamina meaning anyone using this coach can dominate all lengthy rallies.

Thats why Welch is overpowered and must be banned IMO , especially after this stupid update!
you can hit crazy angles from anywhere, or hit shots that is so hard to reach to( even if you do, the next one would be a winner).

You're right m8! I'm a really decent player (n29 in ITSt) and 90% of my loses are vs this kind of player. They are to fast and so you can t it a winner even if you hit a perfect placed serve and two perfect timing power shots...
That's why 8 of the top 10th rankred players are playing this kind of setup...
And thats why I will try this kind of setup soon

Well the trouble with banning setups like that is there will just be a new one that people will gravitate to. To completely eliminate that you'd have to probably ban all the way down to 80, and by that point you're pretty much in SIM territory anyway so you might as well just leave it and play SIM! :-)
Norberto H or bust.

Ps3 top 10 has a nice mix of nuewrth rabari n a few welch.

So i'm in the 10% that beat you without that setup(twice)

Play intelligent set up power shots with control. A match for me usually consists of around 80% control shots then bam power putaways. You must do this 2 beat welch

I'm pretty much the same, in the top 40 on world tour and soon to be top 100 on ITST hopefully.

I very rarely get losses on world tour but the standard of players on ITST is unreal, it really brings you back down to earth.

I suppose with the SIM tour, the idea is that the best player at the game will do well rather than the player with the best coach, which seems pretty cool, might have to try it out soon.

You do get the feeling that any other set-up is pointless as we start losing to players with this coach. I though the update had helped me alot with the effectiveness of my serve and rewards timing of shots which usually is the best part of my game, but you play people with this coach and it feels like any kind of levelling effect the recent update had goes out the window, it's very frustrating.

I often think that the only way to beat them is to join them! The problem with me is that I foolishly added in a couple of serve and volley points when building my player so I would have to start from scratch to get this coach, and with Top Spin 5 coming along relatively soon, I may not bothered to be honest and just keep trying to compete as best I can.

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL.

Top Spin 2 = 2006.

Top Spin 3 = 2008.

Top Spin 4 = 2011.

Top Spin 5 = 2013-2014? my bet is July-October 2013.

So close, no matter how far...

My hypothesis is players requiring extreme power, extreme volley (95+ stats) etc. in regular tour will not do well in sim (or may not participate at all).

Sim separates the men from the boys :D

Not that I am good in either tour, just an opinion.

Haha, I didn't realise it wasn't a yearly release, why isn't it? I know there was a massive gap with the first couple but I thought they released them yearly since, obviously not! I was thinking it would be out next April.

I believe that Top Spin is as realistic and addictive as any massive sports gaming franchise such as Fifa and Football Manager, is it that tennis is not popular enough to gain enough sales to warrant a regular release?

So the Top Spin 4 tour will just keep going till the next game is out? Is there ever a gap where there are no tournaments on ITST to mimic the off season in real tennis?

Unlike all the major team sports, there's no roster turnover or anything in tennis....so there's no real need to pump out a yearly version. It's probably better for the game actually, since it means the developers have more time to make real changes instead of just slapping on a few things to last year's version.

Of course, that doesn't stop them from releasing Tiger Woods every year -- but I think EA makes a lot of money off that game so it makes sense for them to keep releasing new ones to rack up more sales.

Yes I agree, we really need to ban her. Her wings are just insanely unnatural! :P
