Cheats on itst - not sure what to do anymore? Advice?

Postby Ibooman » Wed, 28 Sep 2011 23:09

Hello all, played this guy online tonight, won't name his name but if you wish to find out it was in the quarter final of the Moselle open. No word of a lie he cheesed served the entire match, not just a couple of steps, but full blown tram line serving. Not only did I have to put up with this but also loads of drop shots when I came into the net, you know the type of play Im talking about? I am not quite sure what to do anymore, when I first joint itst it was such a vibrant community with a good mix of playing styles, playing for enjoyment.... ENJOYMENT. However, over the past couple of weeks all I have seemed to play is cheesy players and score cheats. I am fed up of complaining to the management committee because all we get told is 'we have to have evidence' but in truth what if you haven't got the equipment to film a match? Even then I have no doubt he will keep the match anyway, I just don't see the point anymore, shall I chuck the towel in? Or keep playing in the hope things get better?

Any advice would be much appreciated, I have been using this site for a long time now and appreciate both the opinions of the management committee and my fellow players.

Not angry mate, just disappointed with everything, no enjoyment in being cheated. Surely you can understand that? With the greatest of respect I would contact the host but what good would that do? Not going to get rid of these people unfortunately :(

Some things I get tired of repeating, but I'll gladly repeat this until everyone gets it:

No matter what, report cheesers to the host. EVERY SINGLE TIME.

Now, I wish I could tell you that your opponent will be kicked out of the tournament, and that you will get the walkover. I really wish it was that simple, but it isn't, so I can't say that. Why isn't it that simple?

Because, someone could lie and do the same thing to you. Imagine how pissed off you would be if you beat someone fairly, they claimed you cheated, and we gave them the win. THAT, would be very unfair.

We need evidence. Recording the match is great, but not everyone can do that. But that isn't the only form of evidence. Match reports are evidence. It's not as strong as video, but every match report is like a testimony from a witness in a court room. If you have enough people testifying, the evidence becomes stronger.

So, again, report it to the host. You may not get the win, but you help the entire community come one step closer to being cheese free. If you just quit, then the cheesers win, and everybody else loses.

Maybe one day we'll be able to view all the matches, through TopSpin TV or something. But we don't have that, so we have to rely on the system we do have. It's not perfect, and I'm not going to pretend it is; but it's what we have, and I think it's still the best at the time.

Ha, very subtle telling people to look in the draw, you know you just sound like a bad loser with all this ranting. I didn't cheese serve the whole match, on the ad side my player stands literally right next to the middle line while on the deuce side he is a few steps across which admittedly I should change but my serve is my strongest weapon so I can hit the lines from whereever I'm standing, it's not cheesy it's just well aimed serving! Why not take advantage of a weapon like you take advantage of being good at volleying? I conciously made an effort to vary my serves down the middle and wide, with slice and topspin, it would only be cheesy if I was constantly serving wide, which I wasn't!

Put up with drop shots?! What for the one game I tried them because it was like playing against a brick wall with whatever shot I played it kept coming back, what you really wanted me to do then was play it back to you so you could put it away basically? The way I managed to break you was not with drop shots but with high wide top spin returns, are you not just annoyed that I managed to work out how to break your completely unrealistic, un-sportsmanlike serve and volley style? i.e come to the net on every single point, how is that at all fun if you don't even try and rally or actually play tennis?! It is the cheesiest style of play on here if you ask me, requiring no skill whatsoever aside from bashing buttons at the net with high volley stats.

You do know you are the first person to complain about my serve in all the matches I have played on here, do you not think If I served cheesily that it would have been picked up on by now, I mean maybe someone from management has received a complaint so they could correct me and I would then seriously look at how I am playing and try to alter it.

I don't believe in cheating in any game, because at the end of the day winning would kind of seem pointless if it wasn't earned and I didn't feel that way after our match, I felt it was a hard fought victory.

You complain about there being too many 'cheesy' players on these forums, but with only being here a few months to me it seems like as soon as someone half decent loses they need to constantly moan on the forums about it as if the other player is the direct cause of them losing and it is not their own drawbacks at all, it's really childish! Players should take responsibilty for their losses instead of crying about it and then dramatically announcing in a thread that they are going to leave the tour, no one cares!

I'm not hard to beat at all, a 7-7 record suggests that if I really was a cheeser then I'm not being cheesy enough!

You are ranked much higher than me and have some good results so I'm sure it will be an easy victory for you to be honest!

Sounds like you are letting your player drift wide on the deuce side. The game does this naturally, but we expect you to correct for it and move him back.

I'll assume you did not know this, but now you do.

However, this is against our rules, and correct me if I'm wrong, but you have pretty much admitted to letting your player drift wide on the deuce court. Would you guys be fine with a rematch? And jayb1988 agrees to not let his player drift wide?

The drop shots when your opponent is at net....... not sure if I really find that cheesy, since I find them pretty easy to put away. So no comment there.

Yeah it does just seem to put him there often and I forget to move him back in, I didn't know we were supposed to correct it so from now on I will make sure he is always stuck next to the line like on the left side.

The drop shot thing was literally just one game of frustration, I was basically running through every single shot I could possibly play to try and find something that would work. I would never dare to do it throughout a whole match though.

Ha I'm abit too honest I think, I'm fine with a rematch now I'm clear with the rules, if just to prove that I can serve well wherever I stand and that I can play and win fairly to stop all this nonsense.
