countering 98/98

Postby LokiSharpShootr » Sun, 18 Sep 2011 19:59

Ok, this might seem a stupid topic but i got a match against a player who uses that setup and i´ve read in the forums that 98/98 is just as bad as dropshot abuse(a host wrote that if im not mistaken)

So just wondering if the fact that he uses that setups gives more of a leniency when it comes to slices and dropshots(i still wont abuse them, but if its ok i would use them more than i normally do to take advantage of that 40 speed).

PS: I personally got no problem with that build, just wondering what can be done to take advantage of their weakness.

I haven't played that many with this setup but the key is to HOLD SERVE. If you start concentrating on what's happening on the other side of the net (meaning how well they're serving or how fast it's coming) then your match will be over in a matter of minutes. I made this mistake in my WS U.S. Open semi match. I don't think there's anything wrong with changing pace of shots with a slice or dropshot every now and then. If you're S&V you need to make sure to cut off those power shots quickly at net, because these players go for LINES. If you also play with a power player, don't get into hitting matches, use top spin to get them off court then hit a flat shot to the open court.

What recon said, if the guy is good then you're in trouble. However, if you can get the serve back, then he becomes beatable.

What I like to do on my return games is to move very far back and far to the side (right on the duece side and left on the ad side) For some reason these guys serve cross court much better than they do down the line. If you are still being aced, then try guessing where it will go. That way you can at least return SOME of them and get lucky one game and break.

Also slicing helps, if this doesn't work you are doomed

I played against a guy that actually managed to hit a perfect return flat shot almost every time by standing very slightly inside the court, even on the well placed 140 mph ones. My character (called "Power BOREFEST") was quite impressed. Don't know how he did that exactly, but it worked somehow.
I wonder if anyone knows how to do that?

Bro im honestly not playing mind games, i dont need to do that, the reason i havent played the US Open final yet is beacause im waiting for Avi cause he said that he bought a picture card from the US, so we´re waiting for it to arrive to play.

The reason im talking about this so much is that i know that if he used any other build he wouldnt stand a chance in the final against me, but as how he can mash on that analog and get 200 aces a match maybe he´ll beat me, which would be stupid but ok you know, im not superman i cant return perfect placed 230-240 km on a regular basis.

In my tennis club(real life) dude there´s a friend of mine who can serve at 190-200, and that shits is really fast you know, normally i cant get a lot of decent returns in match cause there´s only little time to react, now think about 240 servers LOL thats just sad, but ok you know thats how some people like to play the game, Win at every cost.
