You are a member of more than one year registration, and even then, did a SIM match with more than 30 dropshots??? :shock:

30 Drop shots in a 2 set match is too much?
Lets see...

6-2, 6-3 is 17 games.
Each game is at LEAST 4 points = 68 points.

So assuming EVERY set was a straight murder with 4 straight points, he did one drop shot every other point. That's a lot.

If we assume that every game was at least 5 points, he drop shot 30 out of 85 points, so that's one in three. Not so much.

It goes up assuming the game was contested...

Points per game:
4 = 30 drop shots out of 68 points
5 = 30 drop shots out of 85 points
6 = 30 drop shots out of 102 points

I've seen matches where a player hits more than that.

Also, what if the other player was playing a defensive baseliner and just sat 4 feet behind the baseline the whole match, but got mad when you keep hitting drop shots?

Can't there be a system between how far the player is from the line vs how many drop shots you can hit? If someone won't stop doing A, why must I stop doing B?

The way the discussion happend, with FF94_NL appologising for that match, really shows that the number of drop shots were too much.

BTW, FF94_NL, you had a very nice attitude playing the match again. It´s hard to find players that assume a mistake. :wink:

It will take some time to adjust to SIM and to really discover the potential. It was the same with TS3. Players were thrilled with the idea, then pulled back a bit by a learning curve...but then everything started to fall in place. ;)

I am not worried, give it some time.

And yes, we will be very strict with SIM. This is an alternative tour, all the rules where disclosed at the time of inception so there is no "rule changes". No reason to rebel and/or prove a point. Either accept the tour the way it is - or play a regular tour.

That said - :tu to FF94_NL! Looks good on you.

IMO more than 8 drops a set is cheesy, 15 a set is definitily cheesy and pathetic, if you cant finish your points with normal shots even though the guy is 8 feet behind the baseline you gotta pratice more.
I normally do 1-2 drops a set when playing my welch guy and 0 when playing my rabari build, cause once you get good at control shots, power shots and learn how to finish at the net the dropshots becomes pretty much useless.

Jeez when words like "pathetic" start getting thrown around for an online-only free-play fun-league, you should probably look in the mirror and wipe the foam off your mouth.

Most people who do things, for-serious or for real, will not have rules like "You can do this one tactic, but not too much because that's cheap".

You should all read this:
http://www.sirlin.net/articles/playing- ... art-1.html

The way it works in all competitive game environments that are even remotely legitimate (aka worldwide tournaments, sponsored players, etc).

Let it be known that I in no way want to fight or change the site or insult the admins. The only person that would lose is me. Though I may disagree with the legitimacy of the concept of competition on this site, they are obviously going to great lengths to do what they can to make things fair without breaking their own moral code. I am one of many on this site that greatly appreciate it. To me this is much better than nothing.

FF94_NL is quite a sportsman though.

I'ma big SF player and that article changed my gaming life a few years ago.

Thank you for posting that because I have seriously been looking for it for a long time. I read it one day, it deeply affected me, but I forgot to bookmark it and completely forgot how I came across that site in the first place.

It effectively PWNS a ton of people in this community (ITST) and their way of looking at gaming. Unfortunately not many of them will actually read the entire article because it probably hurts too much.

The importance that article seems to attach to winning at videogames is a little weird i think... I can see how the type of play he talks about operates at a higher level, but what i'll never understand is why it matters that it's at a higher level or why it matters why any gamer is better than another, whatever criteria you use to determine who's better.

I can see his point when it comes to games like streetfighter... the exploits and counters etc become an 'artform' in itself, but there's no sophistication in just playing 1000 drop shots on topspin or tramline serving or whatever... It just makes the game boring.

Just like if I keep throwing fireballs in Street Fighter, you would call the game boring.

Agreed, this article as much interesting as it is, dont really apply to to TS4 or sport games in general.

Yes we all like to win, but winning by any means neccasary is lame. SF doesnt happen in real life tennis does, are we scrubs if we want to have our gameplay as close to reality as possible?
