There is no incentive to play a complete defensive game when an offensive player can play defense just as effectively. Not to mention the ineffectiveness of stamina, lack of unforced errors..but this has all been discussed to death.

As for Sanoww, he is just a great player. It takes guts and skill to master the inside out shots and his inside out forehand is a killer. I haven't seen anyone else use inside out as well as he does.

The defensive game is MUCH more effective against S&V than the offensive game. I guess the problem is that not many people use S&V, so it doesn't show up much. I also agree with you that speed and stamina don't matter enough.

But yeah -- I can beat most OB easily with my S&V character, but it's a struggle against even mediocre DB.

Ya, I think that is where the S and V is overpowered thing comes up, it hurts the ppl who have 20 OFB.

Yeah, defensive players have high groundstoke levels which helps their shots stay low. Between a power shot and a control shot the controlled one is harder to deal with, which is why its harder to play defensive.

Exactly; they think it's overpowered because it's effective against their style.

TS3 career seems a lifetime ago  I do miss it though.

As for defense being effective against s&v..I'm not sure about that at all! In wt, s&v players are the only ones I lose to consistently with my defensive player as they really target my weaknesses (charging the net constantly to rob me of time/playing short points). I woud imagine an OB setup would be way more effective against them.

Dude, if you cant pass ppl with a DFB player, then you stink.......

But you dont, as I can see from TS3......

it seems like you just want DFB players to be more powerful since it is your playstyle.

No I've never really been comfortable playing with huge power so I can get by without it. I just want the speed and stamina that goes with defensive style to actually count and mean something. OB players are not punished enough for their slow movement, even when you attempt to push them all around the court.

Controversial but I think speed does make a difference, it's just not perfect. If I play as someone like slavina or welch I notice how many more balls I can get to that I wouldn't have with my OB. If I play as S&V speed of the opponent is crucial. Speedy DBs can chase down volleys are complete lost causes for OBs. I think often the DBs lack of power is what enables power guys to chase these balls down. I'm a fairly new and mediocre player by ITST standards but I use three players (one of each playstyle) totally equally, one from each style, and I've played enough to notice that really great players just seem to make it work.. the setups of the top players seem to be mostly be the usual suspects but there's plenty of DBs right up there, presumably making great use of that extra speed.

Also the more I play the more I think reflexes is an overlooked stat...

It does seem like OB would be more effective against them -- but it's not at all. It's so much harder to beat a good DB than it is to beat a good OB when playing S&V.

Some power guys are very difficult to beat. Mostly i have less trouble, but yesterday i played a guy called vishal and i barely held serve. He used a 'marat safin' character which has IR/CPS, and high wings, and every shot was 90+ MPH with increbile amounts of speed, spin, dip and placement.

I'm on the edge of giving up this game... just played a good power guy with 46 speed and something like 72 stamina.
He managed to reach almost every control shots I made. I had to play perfectly to hit a winner. He was running left and right, forward and backward like he was on steroid...
His stamina was at 0 after two shots and he still could make power full and well placed shots...like having no more stamina wasn't a problem.
I tried everything and lost. I know i didn't do my best but still, this match let me a bitter feeling...
