Yeah, Clinton actually had the National Debt clock running backwards.

But, he also had the tech bubble helping him, which burst soon after (too soon to blame Bush, really), and is partly responsible for so many jobs being lost to China, which imo is hurting us worse than anything else right now. He's still my favorite president from my lifetime though.

I hate to say it, but it doesn't matter who our Pres is. We're screwed because we're spoiled. How many people do you know who say they are "struggling", but they have cell phones, internet, cable/satellite TV, etc? If they were truly struggling, they couldn't even think of having those things. Everyone says, "I work hard and I have no money" - but really, compared to 99.999% of the people who have ever lived on this earth, we do very little and have a lot. I'm sure same is true for most of Europe as well. We're all guilty.

And please, don't reply to this claiming that you are poor - if you play video games, you're not poor. Or, if you play video games and you really are poor, then you need to get your priorities in line. Hell, if you're poor and you're spending time reading about playing video games, there's something very wrong.

Imagine the King of England/France/Spain/etc just a few hundred years ago, and how much he would envy us for things like phones, TV's, toilets, hot water..... Kings would be jealous of us!

the illusion of comfort is relative, tho. what is comfort for one person is not for another, simply due to the former's ignorance of true comfort, or the extent to which comfort may be experienced. the actual standard of living hasnt improved much in the past 50 yrs. its just that luxury goods now dominate the collective consciousness and give the illusion of comfort. yet people still die from the same diseases, must endure the same sicknesses, and go through the same ritual of aging that people experienced 50 yrs ago.

wealth distribution in the US has never been more pronounced than it currently sits. the french king comparison is rather apt, actually

but youre right -- it doesnt matter who the president is when u live in a corporate plutocracy. the president could be obama or palin or big bird...would make no difference.

Haha! Sorry but this is total bullshit! Get some sleep, stop touching yourself about the doubles tour and know that nowadays we don't die because of the same diseases than 50 years ago (Aids..., we can now live after a cancer...).

The only thing i could agree with you is :

It's kinda true, but only in certain part of the world, and/or only for a few "happy people"...

Hey, I'm truly sorry if I offended you. I was just trying to point out that the result of a poll doesn't necesserily mean that it is what people really want.

Also, game development is not a democracy, so thinking a poll like this should influence the game is pretty stupid to me. The devs knows alot better than us what they want to make of the game. Sure, they should pay attention to what their customer base wants, but if they leave something like hawk eye out I'm sure they have good reasons for that.

I'm also sorry for turning this thread into a political debate. I hate it just as much as the rest of you.

There's a great site that helps keeping perspective on your own economic status in the world. It really makes you think...

hmmm...

AIDs was first reported in the early 80s...so not sure how the creation of a disease, and subsequent "curing" of it, can be termed as progress, but ok lol

cancer? cancer rates have RISEN in the past 50 yrs. the global death rate due to cancer has increased and is predicted to further increase BY A LOT in the next 10 yrs. progress?? ehh, not so much.

it is true that we treat certain diseases better now. but on the whole there are more deadly diseases, more deaths to disease now than ever in the history of mankind. we literally create them

as for luxury goods, where do they not dominate society? maybe far reaches of the planet, like bhutan, siberia, greenland? natives living in huts in brazil? perhaps some shepherds in africa...? the entire 2nd world and much of the developing 3rd world is mesmerized by phones, tvs, clothes, bags, cars -- the exact "comfort" items rob itst mentioned. the 1st world just feeds the crap to more and more of the 3rd world like its crack...and once those 3rd world countries get a taste...theyre hooked.
