totally agree with you jaylove. especially if you have a player with a low power setup. the only thing that can help you against players who play far behind baseline is to use good control shots and dropshots. thats why there is an increasing amount of players using high power setup after the patch..

after a great match with a top seeded player, i realised that we really have to make use of our player setup and special skills when we play (especially after the patch). he agrees too. we had different playstyle but yet, each of us stood a chance to win (it was close match and many breaks). if you looked at top 10 players, they usually have the same setup. i think it's quite boring. so why not we encourage players to use variety of setup and skills. it will be more fun for this tour :)

i no longer think that dropshot is cheesy. if you have the 'dropshot artist' skill, you will have low power thus difficult to hit winners. so you have to make use of your special skill to stand a chance. otherwise, you will be crushed by high power opponent. on the other hand, high power players have a lot less chance to hit dropshot successfully but easier to hit winners. so like i said before, it is already balanced. you just need to find ways to counter them.

just my opinion though.. :)

Who do you played from Top 10 and what setups they used? How many players from top 10 you played? I am sure they don't mind Just curious. :) It sounds fun.

I am "almost" top 10 and I think I use a setup that is not being used by many.

lol i just guessed because players whom i usually got beaten by, they all have the same setup (no kidding). before this, it was TI/MD. and now CPS/IR (sahy rabari). so i just assumed that most top players have this same setup. :)

i probably need to rephrase my sentence to : 'i THINK most of the top 10 players must have the same setup'. my bad. english is not my primary language :)

No, no. I am seriously interested. Maybe they (or someone else) can chip in. Lets make it Top 20 Xbox:

Here is what I remember:

4 retos1 (Italy) - Sahi Rabari
5 Baghdad OrgaSIM (United Kingdom) - Roman Neuwirth
7 Puttu puttuu (England) - Snezlana Slavina
11 djarvik (USA) - Mario Dipesa

lol i honestly think this is not appropriate. but since you are the manager, no one can say anything, right?.

EDIT

oh btw, above are for MS and WS. not sure if they all use the same setup for both man and woman tour.

I was thinking of MS only.

Oh and BTW - nothing wrong with noting on the forum what player I played and what setup he used. If someone takes offense to that I will remove his name :)

Honestly, I am more curious then anything to see how varied are our top 20. It should be a good indicator for a lot of things.

BTW - I generally use 3-4 different coaches. Depending on the mood. But I noted the one I use the most.

Yes , it was a great match , the second set was very close.
The top 10 players don't use the same setup I don't play all of them but I know Dapery and Baghdad don't use CPS/IR.

honestly, it was the match that i enjoyed most playing in this tour so far. dont know exactly why. maybe because we have different playstyle and each of us was trying to make use of our own strength and counter the opponent's weakness. before this, i only got beaten up by those who used the same setup as i did. i also used to use the same setup in every match previously. after building up a few other different setups, i realise how more fun it is to use a variety of setup in this tour. even though you lose, it is just more fun :D

oh btw managers, is there any chance we could watch the French open final after they complete the match? It will be good if it could be recorded (though i'm not sure how  ) and put on youtube?

I played the n°1 Women singles in WT.
He used drop shot Artist / Smell of blood, the setup I use with my male player.
I used IR/MD (samala)

Well, I have to say that the overusing of drop shot is very annoying.
He won the first "set" 3-0

Then I began to read better his game and won the second set 4-2.

He was doing drop shot every single point but I managed to counter some of them.
In the end he won the super tie-break 10-7.

I think that in an ITST match I would have won.
The problem in WT is that you have very little time to adapt your style to the one of your opponent.
In a longer match it's easier.

By the way I usually use the drop shot when my opponent is far from the baseline, after a deep crossed top spin or to make a powerfull player coming to the net. I'm still using it sometimes without the "drop shot artist" skill.
I think I'm using it smartly, depending of how the rally is going.
I use it more when I see that my opponent is overusing a routine that always puts me in a bad position.

In my opinion, it's all about moderation and intelligence of play.
