Updates are part of gaming online period. I will agree with you in reguard to the change on power. The game now feels more like badmitten as opposed to ping pong, I don't like it being so slow. I have adjusted though, more power and taking the ball on the rise. Previously the short angle shots had no strong counters, it was the checkmate go to move and now that's gone people are having trouble competting. I for one think the game plays better after the patch however, the speed is too slow...speed up the ball flight and slow the players down. The fact that 40-60 speed players can run down most balls is a burden on the player creation process and true balance can't exist. Now, in reguards to a buy back if you don't like the patch you can trade in the game at a retail store that buys back games. You won't get the full amount back but should you really, you got some play out of it.

I took someone's advice and turned on the timing display (which I haven't done in a long time) and it definitely changed my opinion of the patch. I'm a fan now. I played Wozniacki again with Kvitova on expert and it was much more balanced, me winning 6-2, 7-5. I figured out how to hit those same angles, I just realized, they're only hittable from offensive positions and I like that. I thought they were just gone altogether, but now I just need to work harder to get them AND the computer can no longer run me outside the doubles alley from anywhere in the court. I still believe they could work a little harder at wrong-footing ability.

Sidenote: I just played an online match with someone who's power was 100! Is this a glitch? Because it was a girl and she hit serves in the 130s...

Oh LOL!!! That strange Imatk came here from the 2k forum... You guy can't have a conversation with him and try to change his idea....

He will not change at all, he is on the right side and will not move from his position never...

Instead of practicing, he is spamming everywhere...

Anyway i voted Good. Cause the game at the very beginning seems too difficult. Than, while practicing, you understand that is the same game, but you need only more brain to play it.

I don't voted World Class cause no one is perfect ;)

I haven't read any part of the posts here so apologies if I'm repeating anything or everything someone has already said before but the topic heading seems like the right place for me to have a moan!

What have 2K done to the game I demo'd & bought??

It feels like a different game to me since their latest patch...all the characters, especially my created one, feel like they're running through water....I mean they just won't move & hitting a winner is a nightmare!!!

Although that is a good reflection of todays real tennis!!! No one hits winners anymore, matches are won & lost on the amount of errors! pfff! bring back the 90's!

Ok I digress, the game.....yeah, I dunno what they did with their patch but it's genuinly put me off playing it & I wish they'd undo it.

My question to 2K is who asked for these changes? Were there a huge amount of complaints about the game before the patch? What was the rationale behind this change? Why damn it!!! WHY?????!!!!!!
(I know that was more than one question!)

ok I feel a bit better now but seriously these changes have turned me off in a big way!

Humm acording to the poll most people liked the changes....

You can still hit winners , you just have to be a little more creative...

That maybe true but was the patch necessary? To me they've slowed the pace of the game down to where points become too long & when that happens each point becomes the same & then it just becomes boring to me......

I suppose it does mirror real tennis in that respect because that's what we have in the game today, players of one style, points that last forever & matches that go on even longer all regardless of the surface!

To me that equals boring & I thought before the patch they had a reasonable balance but it's gone too far in one direction.

I think it's a shame in my opinion because it loses the essence of what made Top Spin 1 so popular.

Just my opinion of course. :)

Al, I think you wrong. I see were you coming from as a casual player, but if anything - the game has more dimensions now then before. I do agree that it needs to be sped up a bit. But right now, some people claim SV is overpowered, others claim 40 shot rallies and I for the life of me can't get either. My points end up as a winners and rather fast. Some say power play is no longer useful - I feel a complete different thing, it is more useful to me now....and so on. If you read the forum (I know you didn't :P ) you will see people complain about 10 different things.

I think at the end of the day, the game became harder - and that is what was the main complaint. The game was aimed originally at mass-market, but I guess once the sales figures came in, once the feedback came in, a change in strategy was needed. So 2K took the plunge. And you know what - our draws are growing at a much faster rate after the Patch then before. So it was the right decision in my opinion.

To guys that think that ITST is the main driving force behind all evil  - you are extremely naive, maybe young and lack a bit of perspective. We are certainly provide feedback, but we are not accounted for even 5% of all sales of TS4. At the end of the day, 2K is a business first.

I also was a big believer in "instant gratification" in tennis games. But I now slowly change my mind. As fun as it is to hit "great" shots, bottom line, Tennis Games cater to a very different bread of gamers. These in my opinion are mostly fans of the game itself. And as such, they over-analyze the game play. Me - guilty.

Too SIM is not good and too arcade is not good. We have VT as an example (sales numbers-wise). So the idea was to create a game that sits right in the middle and hopefully catch both sides of the market. I think initial version was aimed too much towards the "gamer". Now the balance shifted a bit to SIM side. A little more errors and more ball speed and I say we will have a perfect game, as far as sales.

Yes! this was my first and it was not your ball-pushing rally! I was smacking the crap out of the ball - you were pushing Murray style. and I still lost the point with an out, over-hit.

I wish we could have a few more of these. :) Most other points were either short or medium length
