A "lagswitch" doesn't need to be a physical switch on a box like you're expecting. All you have to do is create a lot of LAN traffic and your 360 connection will suffer. It can be as simple as a small app running on a PC next to you and you just press a button to activate it.

I don't know how it could be something to doubt - you have heard of DoS attacks right? Bombarding a network with massive traffic to overload them, preventing others from connecting.. it's the same principle just on a smaller scale and local.

Also, kindly leave religious discussions out of it, particularly ones where you attack other's beliefs.

So if i dislike a certain player i only need to find two other players that feel the same like me and we can label that guy a cheater. The system you propose is only good in theory.

So please report to the management or a host only. We are very experienced in fishing out guys that might be cheating so it is best that we deal with it.

I'm from Australia played online gaming for a while now and i have realised that with Europeans players mostly i have pretty bad lag. With U.S., Oceania and Asia i'm pretty much lag free.

Now i believe that this is a distance issue and am wondering obviously how i might make my internet more efficient to get less lag with these European fella's as we both have a hard time with the lag.

Any help would be much appreciated. My PS3 when i verse European players is the only thing connected at the time. i turn off my laptop and the wifi on my phone but is there perhaps more i could do?

You cant do anything about it Ita!

Im from Europe and have the same problems like you the other way round!

Often I play at night so I face a lot american and oceanic players and its 90% with a lag.

But u can count on if u having lags ur opponent has too. So its fair again :)

Exactly what Wratchchild said. There's not really anything to dispute. They simply do exist. They rarely manifest in a physical form like an actual switch you can flip. It's not like how you switch your lights on and off. It's usually a program that enables you to control the amount of data you upload or overloading your connection by running other things, like a heavy download.

For real though I believe a 'lag switch' does exist, I've seen the youtube videos like everybody else.

And while they make it look relatively easy I'm sure it's still a major pain in the ass and just 'too much work' for like 98% of lazy-ass gamers out there.

So all I'm really saying in disagreeance with you guys is that you've probably never even played somebody who was actually using one. That lag seems to happen in 'big moments' is just your perception...

Now you're making a sensible argument.

But yeah. Totally agree with you. It's definitely out there but I seriously doubt it's prevalent enough for any of us to be concerned about it. Unlikely that we'll come across too many people using this sort of thing.

Well I've dealt perfectly well with laggy opponents and don't complain at all.
(I've played 100ish+ matches)

I just raised this issue because of how suspicious the timing of the stoppages in this one particular match were.

Secondly you cant really say you are in disagreement with me and that I 'probably didnt/couldnt have' played someone who was using one because in your second point you say its too much for 98% of gamers.. are you ruling out I could have played someone in the 2%??? I can tell you if its 2% there is definitely a chance to play one.

Again they were perfectly timed in a perfectly smooth game. FACT.
I was just asking if they worked and was trying to find out if there was a history of this happening in TS/Tennis games online as this is the first I have actually played online competitively.

Anyway Im bored of this topic now.. next.

I said 'PROBABLY' haven't played...

I'm not saying you for sure didn't encounter some 'lag switch' user, but you have to understand that this term/accusation has been tossed around since at least 2005 when I first got my 360, with a total of exactly 0 people ever actually 'caught' using one, so excuse me if I don't react with extreme urgency, like, 'Oh we gotta catch these guys!!' :)

Although that could just be cos they're hard to catch. How do you prove someone is using a lagswitch on you short of being there in person to see them doing it?

I guess that's kinda my point.

It can't be proven, so let's just shut about it/stop worrying about it. Haha.

There are plenty of video on youtube that direct you how to build one.
It's unfortunately very simple to make.
