Good question. Sometimes it seems like the player has glue on his shoes.

What's your speed? I'm at 52 and move around pretty quick.

90 lol. it's more about accelerating than it is speed. they just stand there even though your left analog stick is almost touching the back button.

How close to the baseline are you? I find I "seem" to move better when right after the return or serve I back up about 3 or 4 feet behind the baseline at least. Then I might tap RB and to the middle to just reposition towards the middle a little bit.

You have to resist the temptation to choose your direction to early and to only move left or right.

Moving back not only gives your player more time to get to the ball, but it also gives you more time to react correctly. This gives the impression of having better anticipation and of not getting wrong footed as often, but really it's just a matter of having a split second longer before you have to decide.

In matches really focus on what you do when your opponent is hitting the ball. This is one of the most important advanced skills to learn. I still have a long ways to go, so maybe someone better than me (like Mike or Nick) can chime in on how to do it even better.
