In game helpers online

Postby Capriatifan » Wed, 16 Mar 2011 18:52

I have a question that hopefully the lucky ones among us who already own the game can answer. When playing online matches can you choose (the host) to turn off in game helpers for both players. I personally don't want to see the helpers but if my opponent CAN use the placement helper then he would have an advantage as he can see beforehand where my shot is gonna land, resulting in me kind of HAVING to use it too even if I would rather not.

In the option menu, there is an "ingame helpers" option, just like in the demo. You choose what you want on/off. This will affect everything, from career to player match to world tour, etc. Your opponent can't see your helpers. The only time anyone else can see your helpers is if you're playing multiplayer offline and on the same screen.

Yeah, but I think he meant that it will maybe be an unfair advantage if someone online has them turned on and you have them turned off. But I think that if you have good timing it won't matter if your opponent has the helpers turned on.

The question though is whether you can turn off the helpers for BOTH players, or if you can only turn them off for yourself. Because otherwise there is no point in turning off the placement helper since it is a tactical advantage to have it on.

I think the answer to this is no, and perhaps something that 2K should look at. At least for the World Tour, helpers should be completely off in my opinion.

Agree completely and I'm surprised they didn't think of that.

Ohh my bad. Yeah, you can't turn off/on your opponent's helpers, or vice versa.
Personally I don't care if someone has helpers on or not. I use timing display and stamina. Power and shot placement hinder me big time.

I disagree with you. To me it is a major destruction. Sure...it can be an advantage for beginners, when they play each other...but if you have your timing down, it is really an on court destruction and an extra step to look at when you should be busy executing the plan. But maybe its just me? :?

If you get used to it, it is very natural to do a quick glance at the spot the ball will land and then go back to concentrating on the ball and player. I'll have to start practicing without that to see if it makes a difference to me.

I agree, even though i cant 'tell' which is ironic as there is no timer  i hit the ball harder and more consistent without the helpers

errr.. definitely there should be an option allowing to disable the placement spot helper for both sides. I don't play this game yet but this just sounds obvious. those helpers should be offline/training/carreer options only in my opinion.
