Top Spin 4 Too Easy???

Postby Cro Morgan » Fri, 04 Mar 2011 07:04

For the record:

A number of people have mentioned/complained that the demo is too easy. "Hard" isn't really that hard, and it's not very difficult to keep the ball in play (i.e. few unforced errors).

No worries.

In addition to the demo being an early build (the game has since been tweaked) the demo has been dumbed down. Ronnie2K recently addressed this issue on Twitter (below).

In short, the full version of the game will present much more of a challenge. :tu

And or sliders? I like that if it is like in the NHL games where you can adjust almost anything. :D

When Ronnie said "both demos," he may have been talking about Top Spin 4 and MLB 2K11. So, the sliders could be for MLB and not TS4. Or both. Not sure. Ronnie?

also it seems to be two more levels of difficulty above hard
"a very hard level, and then a super hard level or whatever that unlocks if you meet certain requirements",

It would be great with a super very annoying hard level... :D

Like VT3 on the hardest difficulty. That could be a challenge when playing King or Duke, or any pro with your created character.

I got it easier with Serena against Rafa than with Fed. against Rafa and I didin't understood the full Range or Depth of the Controlles yet but it's only the hard Level.

Some of my german mates said he has no Chance against the CPU on hard in a forum. So not everybody has the same Opinion about that.

I can't wait to try out the Top Spin School because I really think that I didn't understood all Controllemechanics yet.

If I didn't play as you should with Fed, it got harder.

And how you should?

Maybe you can broaden my mind a lil bit.

I mean I know self that Fed is a Allrounder and that should mean you can use him in all Positions.

But if you are only tring to compete with Rafa on hard from the Baseline you'll have a hard time because of his good defensive Baselinegame.

However, he goes on my nerves.

The only way to make game tough now is by jsut hitting to opponents strength lol. Ie I just hit to rafas forehand otherwise it too easy to do a few quick tap topspin short angle shots spread wide and punish. Going toe to toe with rafa to rafa forehand can be pretty goddamn awesome.

Also drop volleys, love it. Oh and you can drop shot return serves if time well enough feels so cheap but awesome.

Nice link. More positive news with regard to the games difficulty. :tu

Better yet, the posted comments were mostly positive (as they are here). That's the most encouraging thing about the demo. Not since TS1 has a game in the TS series received this much love (and like-a-lot). Bodes very well for the future!

Cro, do you know if the full version will allow for use of the dpad for movement? I don't like using the analog stick for moving and shot placement!

If not you have to get used to it. It feels alot more natural with the Analogstick and if you can't use the D-Pad in the Demo I don't believe you can use it in the final Game.

I very much doubt that the d-pad wont be an option in the full game.

Demo's like FIFA only usually stick control, but in full games they have option for both.

I just think the demo is stripped down. Controls included.

Not sure. All I know is what we all know: the retail version of the game will be different. How different remains to be seen.

Well, definitely the AI is too easy, but some people are complaining because the "game" is too easy, i.e. no unforced errors. I think making a harder level will only change the AI but it isn't going to make your shots more difficult to control.

Well, even if it does make your shots more difficult to control, how will that work with online play? Will the control of the shots be at the hardest difficulty or will it be too easy and nobody will ever hit the ball out?

*Sigh*

Anyways, as much as it is not realistic to never hit the ball out, the funnest tennis games for me were always the ones where it was difficult to hit the ball out anyways. So if this is the case maybe it will turn out better, though slightly less realistic. I suppose that's an ok sacrifice.
