The serve in Top Spin 4: after demo what is your opinion?

Postby thedoctordelly » Wed, 02 Mar 2011 01:33

What do you think of the serve in top spin 4?
is balanced?
Can you serve easily angled?
Will be a key stroke as in Top spin 3 in mode online?

After the demo , What is your opinion?

Don't know. As in real tennis it should be important really. I can't get the right angles just after a couple of tiebreakers, but the cheesy slice service from wide position seems to be gone :)

YESS! im so glad. Yeah its gone seemingly though it maybe due to the fact I haven't quite figure how to serve just yet. But hopefully it's gone. I've been aced a few times so thats a good sign. 8)

All those helps are optional. You can turn off each one seperately. Those are the stamina bar, the bounce cross, the shot meter and the timing review, leaving nothing but what really matters.

Stick serve seems easier to grasp on TS4. I do believe the x mark will only be useful for offline play. HOPEFULLY

Serving wasn't hard per say, it's the placement and putting a lot of action that's the problem. Serving is actually a weapon now, and if your character doesn't have the stats, don't expect to pull aces left and right, cause it won't happen.

I can serve it, but I think it will help to go through ts4 school and learn exactly what is supposed to be done, rather than altering our controls from ts3 ;)

Well serving with Fed or Nadal allows me to climb till' 126mph so far and put a few aces. But Serena serve  I stuck my friend Flabio2danone on his line with it, can't wait to see Roddick's! Serve over 80 seem to be very interesting for angles...will see...

I made a few Aces against Nadal on hard now. Some down the Line and some Aces on the Outsideline. Federer doesn't have the best Serve like a Pete Sampras in the Game but it's good enough to hit some good placed Aces. To hit the Serve exactly on the Lines is not easy and speaks for the Game but also in TS4 it's only a Question of Timing and if you got the right Timing with the Sticks then you got it. So I think we will see really good Servicegames with the Time so soon Players more and more master it. In think the Servicegame is pretty good in the Game and the first real Invitation for Serve and Volley Players or also an offensive Baselinerplayer who has a good Serve like Serena Williams in the Game.
It's hot, and it gets even hotter cause the Demo was made from a early build of the Game.

I like the "new" serve feeling. I hit a few aces down the center (on the line) and I suspect that we wont be able to do that constantly. Depending on where in the match you are I think it will be more difficult to do that. And sometimes easier. So my guess is that there is some sort of parameter that tells the computer that my player is in a situation where it will be more difficult (or easier) to hit a great serve.

Did I make any sense? :D

AI on hard is easy and for some reason rafa plays 10 times better against ana. It a lot more fun playing ana against rafa. All close tbs had so far. Also it going to be very interesting online.

I struggled a little more beating Rafa with Fed than the other way around. Maybe Nadals playstyle suits me better. It actually was ALOT of fun playing with Nadal on clay, it felt really realistic. I always tried/liked playing as/with Fed more.

It's unlikely, maybe a small difference but not enough to radically change anything.
