What car do you drive?

No offense to anybody but that seriously kinda blows, I mean, how do you go on road trips with friends??? Taking trains/buses everywhere kinda sucks.

Their cars consume far less gas. You will have to calculate the total amount that it would cost for a road-trip. As in mileage and gas. I bet the costs of both trips will be very close.

Difference? ...we have a place to put our XXXL Coke or a 40, they have to stop every 2 minutes to breath.

hahaha XXXL Coke, our cars are not uncomfortable man hahaha. I bet one of your pickups pollutes more than 5 european cars....irresponsible americans   . I don't get why you need 6.6 l engine cars?? as far as i know your speed limits are more restricted than ours

btw, my cars consume
Audi Sportback 2.0 TDI: 5-6 l/100km
Smart 71 hp: 4-4,5 l/100km

if someday i see that on my mirror car i'll shit my pants

well distances between cities are not like yours guys, and those road trips you're talking about are not very common here (at least in Spain)...... i see them as an american thing, no offense eh, i believe they're great, probably quite funny and also good for new experiences.

my state of Texas is larger than the country of Spain and we have more spanish speaking people than Spain

Spain---504,030 square km's
Texas---696,241 square km's

that's what i was talking about, a state is bigger than my country, unbelievable

Honestly I don't like trucks or large vehicles like tha (they're hard to drive and douchebags drive them), but they're so big that they basically require big engines like 5.8L V8's. Those are the only kind of cars that have huge engines like you mentioned (6.6L, etc).

as always it's just a perception, probably not based on reality, only on stereotypes due to the **** movies, media and all that stuff, sorry for that.

You would never, or very rarely see a car that size in Ireland

It was a guzzler. Especially the way I drive  I used to get about 7-8 miles a gallon in the city and about 12-14 on the highway.

My current GS now gets about 11-12 miles in city and a good 22-24 on the highway.

Yeah there isn't really enough space in the UK to go road tripping, only day trips which are a couple of hundred miles at most. Unless you travel to the continent and travel europe. my Golf does about 21 MPG day to day, and it has a 200 BHP 2.0 turbo engine. On the motorway will get about 35 MPG from it.

In the UK, if you see a hummer, you know the guy is SERIOUSLY loaded. On top gear they showed if you hammer it you can get less than 1 MPG, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_QNgGGX ... 1&index=77

whats another interesting debate, is that the uk has all these extremely strict emissions laws, gasoline prices ludicrous, as well as things like heating and electricity bills to try and "cut carbon" and be green save the world etc etc, but with the cheapness of fuel in the USA and china and elsewhere, the difference must be like weeing in the ocean for all the difference it makes, and the reply from the government is "we must set an example". To whom? in case you havent realised, we don't have an empire anymore, we are a tiny insignificant island and should start acting like one, not trying to be this big world player, we dont have the money, power or influence any more.
