fastest groundstrokes of all times

as we all know Gael Monfils holds the record for fastest ground stroke clocked at 118mph....but i found some other interesting facts which i think are NOT TRUE...what is your opinion and if you can find any other facts of fastest serve or fastest ground strokes(besides roddick or monfils) please share

At a professional event in 1951, the forehand drives of a number of players were electronically measured. Pancho Gonzales hit the fastest, at 112.88 mph, followed by Jack Kramer at 107.8 and Welby Van Horn at 104.  OVER MY DEAD BODY

Yeah I've seen those stats before...total BS. I don't think they had radar guns back then (actually I don't think RADAR had yet been invented) so I hope they weren't just sitting there with an analog stopwatch, timing FH drives.

I doubt those old-timers were hitting much harder than 70-75 mph at their very hardest.

I"ve always found these stats you mention EXTREMELY odd and have always wondered why they're still circulating around when they're obvious BS

Yeah like they reckon roscoe tanner had a 160 mph serve lol. It was probably about 130. Old tech can't really be trusted.

i think probably the fastest possible serve even with future technology and athletes will be around 165-170. kinda funny to see that apparently tilden hit those regular :P

Postby FranciscoCagao » Wed, 08 Sep 2010 02:51

Has anyone ever seen the return winner of Agassi in an exhibition match Federer and Sampras vs Nadal and Agassi ?

This should be the greatest and more powerful groundstroke ever
