New style of play

Postby pfnerch » Wed, 01 Sep 2010 16:10

I played today against Rocketsfall a i loved that match bec. he mixed up very good played groundstrokes a great serve a volley. I hope that much more people would mix their game bec everyone plays groundstrokes a thats kind of boring for me. winning is great but for me fun is more important a risk shots all the time can effektive but no fun.
so everyone out there please try to mix up your gamestyle :D

Yes that was a fun match. You came to the net after every serve, which gave me something to think about. It's something you usually don't have to deal with as most players stay back.

I'm far from the best risk shot hitter so I have to come up with something else to keep the opponent out of a comfort zone. Mixing up all types of shots does that for me. But I'm not going to say that more poeple should play like this. If someone is good at pure hard htting from the baseline, for example, then he should do that. Simple as that. You can't force people to play a certain style.

i don't want force people
Everyone should play his own style but for me most fun is playing variable a not always riskshots from the ground(who are very difficult but boring for me). Some people play for fun some for the winning. I understand both sides .

i think you should invest in a ps3 my friend! there are a lot of good volley players there who aren't afraid to mix it up and come to the net. Unfortunately, much like real life tennis, the top players on PS3 tour seldom come to the net and prefer to play from the back of the court. But while we arent the 'best' in terms of world rankings, we make life uncomfortable for the big guns, especially as players such as pocho have started a SV approach to the game. And me and other players such as VXM, darkpaladin, viera (retired), apathetically, even sometimes alex and djarvik come to the net and dominate.

The number one reason for a lack of net play is probably lag or ping. a tiny amountof lag can throw off a perfect volley wildly. I can't do that much to a amazing level apart from volley, so you can see how this screws me over :)

Anyway keep volleying and i hope you find success my friend! PS mine the other members for some good SV tips RobITST left behind :)

My volley is average... but i can t play just from the baseline.

I understand pfnerch, just baseline shoting is boring.

i agree with pfnerch.
the problem is that serve-volley is too underrated in this game.
and not easy to do-it needs alot of practice
i found the baseline passing shots are mostly too easy to do.

at all its possible to play a good serve-volley gameplay(look rob)and to win matches
maybe some player got inspirated from pfnerchs post. to start to play more net attacks !!

to make a point with a volley makes definitifly more fun as a simple risk baselineshot:

so try it out toplay more volleys -esspecially in sim is this a good way .
maybe the "ITST SIM CHARACTER CREATERS " create a super servevolleyplayer .
to bring more player to play S/V
and maybe they called him "edberg"
one of the best S/V player ever

I played apathetically in a match yesterday and won 7-6 7-6, he was cannon, and i was my stacked SV player who is

FH 75
BH 60
SV 90
VOL 90
PWR 80
RTN 40
SPD 80
STA 45.

Now playing almost pure SV like me makes for a fair and quite fun match, however if this player was available for sim people would abuse the power and serve stats and be untouchable lol, and play very little volley at all.

Don't forget you don't necessarily need a red or orange volley stat to be successfull at the net. I think good s&v depends more on a good serve, good return reading and knowing when to hit a certain type of volley. Successfully coming to the net during a really is mostly about consistently taking the ball early, mixing shots and not being afraid to take the opportunity.
For all this, I would recommend Cannon, Lopez and Bashmakov as sim characters.
