Fed just won 6-3 6-7 6-4 7-6 vs a player who is ranked 153 and almost lost in the 1st round.

whats wrong with him,
he needs to play better now!

what if he decides this year he can not catch nadal again for #1 with the way the rankings are and he loses early that way he has points to regain next year

I feel for Federer retirement is coming closer and closer. It's been along time since I feel he's enjoyed the game and he's getting older. Hopefully I'm wrong though.

i think federer is getting older for sure...and his passion is getting lesser but i think always unranked players are always more hard than ranked ones coz they know each other more...n federer is still the best for me

Yeah, Fed isn't getting any younger, but I'm sure he's just got to be losing his motivation more than anything else. I mean, the dude has accomplished everything that a tennis player could conceivably want to accomplish, and he's a gazillionaire. What else is left other than retirement?

It's grass court tennis and occasionally an aggressive player with a good serve has a good day, and that can make it very difficult on grass. Look at Llodra against Roddick, Isner and Mahut, Dolgopolov against Tsonga, and Haase against Nadal. If you have a good serve and hard groundies you will always be in a match on grass.

Alternately as in the Isner match, if you have a horrible return you will have a very difficult time breaking serve on grass...

i guess that is because we thought Federer was gonna win all his matches on grass in straights, he´s the king, the legend on grass, on the other hand it´s not unusual that Nadal needs to play 5 sets to get the win on grass, he´s not the king, the legend on grass.
Nowadays tennis has become super competitive, so anyone can beat anyone, any day. There's not much difference between the top 100 players.
I don´t know super Federer but i´m sure Nadal will have to play 5 sets in many matches if he wants to get to the final rounds in Wimbledon, tennis is not easy.
