I mean exactly that. The AI only locks in with you when he knows his skills are higher, obviously. I can't get out of it, I can't attck either. I end up being knocked out or my life and stamina drained.

No such problem when playing other people, not AI.

But it's not as bad as 09. I mostly win AI with less stats on the highest level.

If I'm clinched by a guy and he's trying to rock my face with knees/fists, I basically just do 2 things (even against the computer AI with very high clinch skills): 1) Block your head, 2) Keep flicking 'down' on the right stick, if you time it correctly you will catch one of his strikes and either take him down or gain dominant clinching position. Don't even try to attack, because you will just give him an opening to punish you even further, and your attacks from that position are incredibly weak, anyways.

This is wisdom from me playing UFC '09, so I'm not really sure if it still applies to 2010 but it probably does.

Here is the thing, in order for me to catch the strike while in clinch, I need to learn the move from one of the Camps. But, in order to learn the move, I have to spar with and perform the move against a fighter from that camp, who is proficient with his Clinch :?

I think its the fact that I started Carrier on the highest difficulty level. AI can be very strong.

What I did do yesterday is learn some clinch transitions, to get my self in a better position while clinched. And so far its working great.
I got the transitions to level 3 and now AI lost interest in clinching with me

Ahh ok I gotcha...yeah the problem is the fact that you're playing Career on the highest difficulty...it's almost impossible to beat a fully developed, Expert-level CPU opponent with your crappy undeveloped character, you have to put it on Beginner or Experienced difficulty.

I was actually trying to develop my 2009 character last night and gave up after losing the same match 3 times- I had it on Expert though so I'm gonna try the easiest difficulty level, today.

@jay
But you get less total skill points if you use an easier setting. That was actually the only reason I opted for hardest.

Anyway, I think I am actually pretty good with my "hands" if you clinch me, most times I can just do transitions to no end and if I get an offensive position I can land a few knees and break it up (rarely). But I raised my stamina to 85 so I don't mind clinching now, all this grinding only heart my opponent with lesser stamina.

Still can throw people down or submit  but I can avoid a take-down just fine and defend submissions fine.

Anyway, I should be done with my CAF tonight....I am in Pros and have a 8 match wining streak.

@Hamburgerboy27

 our match was the first match ever for me on xbox live, the next day after I bought this game....I still did good. Maybe tonight or tomorrow night I will invite you for some revenge.

Xbox-live Camp. I see that option, but whats it for?....what do you do??? How it works?

You get less total skill points if you use a lower difficulty level?? I'm not sure it's like that on '09, I'll have to double-check.

BTW I was playing UFC 09 online for a few hours last night and I had 2 matches in a row where I submitted the guy in under a minute!!! Even for me that's very rare. I just thought it was cool and had to tell somebody 8)

Just gave the UFC 10 demo another shot and it's pretty cool...one thing I really like is that the overall movement of the fighters seems to be more fluid and realistic (even if the demo itself seems kinda glitchy overall). It's definitely much different from 09 and possibly (somehow) even more complicated, which is cool I guess. I like the ability to head-fake/duck, too. Hopefully none of the new additions to the game have thrown off the balance (I think UFC 09 is a pretty damn well-balanced game), I really wanna get this game now.

I remember trying the 09 and was a bit overwhelmed. Decided against purchasing the game. Mostly because of TS3. Now that this wears off  I really love the 2010 game.

Spend 3 hours playing yesterday  finally leaned some take downs and ground game. Still near impossible to submit a decent AI.....but at least now I can sit on top of him and flatten his face.

I finally made a nice CAF. Very balanced around 75 overall rating. I also learned pretty much enough to win AI in highest level every time. I took him online and got absolutely destroyed.

So I did a little digging.....

Apparently, there is such thing as a Super CAF. (it's TS3 all over again) What people do is start a carrier in easy and "bank" all the points....then, last week, before your retirement, they max out all the stat, ending up with a 100 overall player

No matter how good you are, if you missing about 30 overall points....you are F**ed.

Anyhow, a major turn off for me. I know I can always play with a UFC fighter and not worry about these Super CAFs, but I really LOVE the way the game lets you build your own fighter and pick exactly what moves, strikes, TRs, etc he will have. This is the part that appeals the most to me.

I wish there was a ITST of UFC. Sadly thou, there is no way to see opponents stats before you start the fight :?

There is hope thou......end of this week, "Patch" from the creators promises to fix lots of bugs and it is said it will "address the Super CAF issue".

Yeah that sucks. I've heard that you can completely max out your CAF in '09 as well (100 in every single stat) but I really have no interest in doing that, there's really no point in even playing if you take it to that extreme.

Your 'ITST of UFC' comment is a good idea...don't see why we couldn't just do it here. Why can't we just branch out from strictly tennis games...er...strictly TS3 and DMT? We wouldn't have to stop calling ourselves International Top Spin Tour.

Also, you can't see your opponent's stats in UFC '10? You can in '09. You just press 'X' at the matchup screen.

Yes,i have to detect by our Fight, that was your first fight and you have write me this after our Match...
I have see you not online in the last Days...but when you Online write me and we Fighting again.

I not 100% sure how work the Camp, but we can in the camp:

-Win online Fightings for the Camp and the Camp become a better Ranking
-We can practice in the Camp with our Camp-Fighters and learn the move from another Fighter
-We become more respect/popularity for our career
-We can play online-Camps in the carrer-modus for practice our Fighter

Think the four points the Options by a Online-Camp

Hey Al, still playing this game??

I got it for Christmas and I'm trying to get better at it, but holy CRAP I suck! This game is soooooooo much different from '09!

- The 'Swaying' (head movement) aspect is really throwing me off....I'm used to having my finger on RB (block) at basically all times and moving in and out of 'the pocket' with my hand on RB...now this makes me just move my head backwards. I'll get used to it though

- The clinch game is dramatically different. It seems much more effective in this game and harder to escape.

- The reversal aspect of the ground game is different somehow. The window to input the reversal command (flick of the stick) is dramatically smaller, it seems. Transitions that I KNOW I would have reversed in '09, I am completely missing in '10.

Basically everything feels different to a certain extent. I am basically a master at '09 (recently had a 30 FIGHT WIN STREAK! 8) ) but I am a complete and utter noob in '10, it's that different.

I'd be down to play anytime though, just know that I am going to suck for the next couple of weeks, probably.

Don't worry, I will for sure still suck by this weekend.

I sucked for a good 2-3 months at UFC '09 though, so I'm not too discouraged.
