In my opinion there is a lot of confusion with this shot, and every one has his own opinion, some people think that short slice is cheesy, but don´t think that long risk slice is cheesy, for example, i think that is cheesy when u use it in every rallie a risk slice, when u use it for attack.

I dont know of anyone on PS3 who says short slice isnt cheesy, people use it tho

i use slice button when i am defending and when i go to the net, when i am defending i can´t adjust the shots, i only can put the ball in the court and many of this shots go to the middle of the court, i don´t think that this is a "short slice".

Firstly that doesnt at all answer my question

Secondly i use slice in defence aswell, but non risk slice, and its completly useless  The developers really missed th boat in terms of slice. hen i say short slice i mean Risk Square down, and personally i include volleys in that aswell

I sorta agree with you Maximo.

Honestly, I don't like risk slice in any way shape or form. It is way overpowered. I love L2 slices tho....they are really good. ....but any slice with R2 is pure arcade garbage....short. long, volley....it just too efective.....and not beacse how fast it travels...but because unless you risk with R2, your answer shot to risk slice will be a puff ball, that later is being easily put away.

So any risk slice involving R2 automaticallty beacomes Offensive, even whe you are "trying" to defend.

I hit plenty of slices, a lot really....but all of them are authentic slices, low or high slow balls that buy me time on defense or mess with your timing on weakside. They never attack. If they score a point is because I wrong footed you, because I already won that point the shot before.

Short slice is the only one I consider cheesy. No matter at what point you pull it off....you are taking a shortcut withing a poorly designed game. It's a choice to take an easy route, usually done when desparte, overwhelmed.

It is also much more satisfying on defense, when you are able to overcome a controlling rally from your opponent and turn the tables and score......I know when I am on the run, a short slice will make it soooo much easier for me...but I choose not to. Some players, choose to. And then try and find a way to justify it, when in reality, they just feel out of the point or match and go for the most effective shot/play that EVERYONE already knows.

That said, nothing we can do about it. Like Fedfan said, play friendlies with people you enjoy....and let the "gamers" slice themselves to death.

There is no difference between it at the net or from the baseline

ok, i respect your opinion, personally i like use square and L2 for volley, and if u think that this is cheesy, i accept it.

yeah i think my volleys are easily enough countered anyway :D but i never use a L2 volley for my 1st volley. i will guaranteed hit it out or in the net if i do

I used to do it aswell, then i realised, everyone uses it tho.
Just next time you use it notice the similarities
1)Easy to Use
2)Overly effective
Im not calling you a cheeser btw, everyone uses it, i used to, and still do rarely but im trying to cut it out

Maximo Djarvik is right, you do it unintentionally sometimes and yesterday you have done it against me when i had match point... i was doing it a lot as well when i first joined ITST but now i don't. I only risk slice deep to defend. You should try it too mate

Well I think if you've managed to get to the net and not be passed you should be able to risk slice without been called out. Also at the net you're quite vulnerable especially to frickin lobs that land right near you and you do that retarded jump back.

I agree with coke about the 'Square + L2 + pulled down' volley. It's too easy in comparison with solid deep 'X + L2' volley which in real life would be the prefered one (and probably easier to hit...). Too easy in TS3 is fine, but it's far too effective. If your opponent can chase the volley, he'd likely lunge at it and the point is yours.

Aussie Fabs has a good point too, if someone can get into a good position at net then perhaps they deserve an easier volley to hit.

Not much we can do, seems the game is glitched that anything short and sliced is just too powerful with ease in using.
