Suitable internet speed?

Postby DRII » Tue, 23 Mar 2010 23:25

I just moved and my new apartment complex only allows me to use their internet. Its download speed is suppose to be 1.5Mb/s, but I am only getting around .550 Mb/s on my PS3 - upload is much worse like .19Mb/s.

Also my NAT Type used to be 2, now it is 1.

Is this enough speed to play TS3 online?

And is the change in NAT Type make any difference?

It's all about ping. Go to www.speedtest.net and check your ping (latency) to various places around the world. For TS3, I find 200ms is good enough (the lower the better).

thx rob...I didn't know anything about ping...
I'm testing it...
for example It's strange that I have low ping with New York and high with Miami(in fact i couldn't connect with miami_2009)but i have low ping with Los Angeles..
and in Europe I have high ping only with Spain...don't know why...

At 19:56 pm CET, march 24

DOWNLOAD: 13,49 mb/s
UPLOAD: 0,74 mb/s
PING: 42ms

If you say ping is the key, i don´t understand why i have lag with some of you, there´re more variables for sure

You need to check Latency/Ping TO YOUR OPPONENT.

To his ISP to be exact.

To get an approximate reading, select on the map the location of your opponent and you will get and idea of Latency/Ping between you.

For example: My ping to Madrid is 143.
Level 13 Edberg and counting...
