Totally RANDOM media sharing question for tech gurus

Postby ILuvBillVal » Fri, 19 Feb 2010 08:24

So here's the deal. I am trying to share media from a Windows 7 PC to my xbox. I have done everything "right," trying both WMP12 and Zune player and anything I could try and yet for some reason the Xbox won't see my PC. It sees my roomate's Vista PC fine, and it saw my XP PC fine. I have done everything as described to share through 7, yet it still won't work. Hopefully someone with knowledge of this could maybe help me!

The only thing what it could be is that there is a firewall blocking the connection.

Do you use an internet security suite on your PC?
Or just the Windows Firewall?

I use Windows Media Player with the function "play to" and Tversity without a problem.

Are you using Windows 7? It's definitely not a PC firewall issue. I have TVersity as well which also didn't work. I disabled every sort of firewall (windows included), also even like AdWatch and stuff just to see and still no go. It will generally just take forever (abnormally) for the xbox to see the PC and when it does I can't get into it. I'm not new to this stuff really as I said I had it working with my old XP desktop fine and dandy but for some reason Windows 7 is giving me mad issues with this.

Do the other PCs also connect to the same Xbox?

I have 2 PCs and I made sure that Tversity doesn't start sharing with the windows start up.

If it's the case that it does start up . Stop sharing on the other PC in the Tversity settings and then start sharing or restart sharing on your W7 .

And yes I use a windows 7 64 bit . Works fine.

When you use TVersity does your xbox just read the PC when you go into music? As if you were sharing with Windows Media Sharing Service?

What I mean is... when sharing with TVersity: when you go into Music (in the 360), and go to All Music or whatever does it sit there for a sec and then your computer pops up on there as a source?

It should be there as a source . Like in the "select source" .
