I was just going to start a thread about this. I feel like I just went to a movie! It is very inspirational. I mean the story with Canada winning is first gold medal on its home-turf (via the men's mogul)! The redemption overcame the female's Canadian mogul leader getting bumped off by the American who did not even qualify for a medal in Torino! Wow!

One of my favorite pairs skating team is back and hold the number one spot (after coming back from retirement). I hope they do well in the free skate (once known as the long program under the old scoring system).

I felt great for the Netherlands with Svens Kramer winning! He was so happy, and the people passed him a huge "gold medal!" I wonder if Armin Van Buuren was there (I heard trance music).

Great job to all nations. I am very impressed.

Total medals won so far:

United States: 6
Germany: 4
France: 3
Canada 3

I am sad to announce that a person from Georgia passed away (from luge). Tragic event.

It's pretty depressing. I watched opening and when the geaorgian team came out it was sad as all hell. After seeing all the other groups laughing and smiling this group of 6 or so comes out with dead facial expressions.

Thanks Q, here in Holland we're very proud of him. He has trained hard to honor his expectations, and succeeded during his turn
Hell even our prime minister and some members of the cabinet were present, even our crown prince Willem-Alexander, his wife Maxima and their three children were in the Richmond Olypic Oval witnessing Kramer's golden race.

Hats of for his accomplishment, to succeed under such pressure is amazing.

You are the first Dutch person I've ever heard use Holland instead of NL to name the country! I prefer Holland myself, it's much easier to say in any circumstance, but especially so if your tongue is tired from speaking dutch.

“Dad, I’m scared of one of the turns.” David Kumaritashvili said. David Kumaritashvili described his son as brave and said that it was the 21 year old’s dream to compete in the Olympics. Instead of planning a heroic homecoming celebration for an Olympic athlete, the town is planning a funeral. The world unites in mourning for the athlete and his family.

a tragedy
Never underestimate the pain of a person, because in all honesty, everyone is struggling. Some people are just better at hiding it than others.

Yea, over here, they referenced Holland, the Neds, and the Netherlands. I know a lot about this wonderful nation now, thanks to Armin Van Buuren's "A State of Trance" episodes. I am listening to his full episodes now (from the launch of IDNT's radio in the Netherlands to number 054)!

It seems to be a nice nation with a lot of happy people. :tu

@AUSSIE_FABS:

Yes. I am deeply grieved, especially for what this moment means to so so many countries.

@DarkPaladin87:

You are welcome man. I could not have come at a better time. I am sure that Canada is celebrating with the men's mogul's story as well. Yes! Enjoy the great accomplishments from the many olympians. Great job from the Netherlands. :tu

Monday primetime olympic summary:

Snowboard cross featured a Canadian boarder clearly in first. Then, the American snowboarder came from a seemingly third place "no chance for gold" position to take gold at the finish!

Alpine downhill was great with a great run from the Swiss to take gold and a close bronze run from the American!

Let me hear it from the people's Republic of China! Yao Bin cried in an early footage about him being embarassed of performing at the 1980 olympic event. He then took on a vow that risked him not being their for his son's birth, development, and that of this grandson's as well. Very sad, and he cried about this.

However, he was redeemed by having done what no other coach has been able to do in decades for pairs figure skating:

1) Detrone Russian pairs (for gold, silver, and or bronze).
2) China pairs win gold.
3) China pairs win gold and silver (the only nation to do this was Russia themselves at the winter olympics for pairs).

The Olympic ceremony for the men's moguls was very touching. A very happy day for many nations.

Medal count:

Even though the United States hold the lead, I am most proud of the Swiss. Three of their three medals are all gold! :) That is amazing.

8-4-4-4-3-3 are the nations standing with United States leading the pack.

Downhill men : The Defago's win was a big surprise to me!What happens to Cuche and/or Walchoffer?!?Aksel Lund Svindal is a beast,he can win in all competition,Bode Miller is a magician made of chewing-gum : the most exciting alpine skier i've seen in years, with the greatest "snow-touch" (he can really take some crazy angles)...I think since Herminator... ;) (And he can win in all competition too!...When he wants it!)

Netherland women's 500m speed skating event featured falls that opened up medals for South Korea. South Korea takes the second gold medal for their nation (one in a female's 500 meter event and one in men's).

Germany delighful takes women's luge event!

MEDAL COUNT:

Germany takes the number one spot with 9. United States with 8.
