i made him, quite impressed, maybe burns will be my SV player for the clay and slower courts. played some guy who had a created gasquet character who was fair, i hit some evil backhands in that game. When i started to tire though things got more tricky

Sounds like a headcase to me lol.

True story! it's happend to me on many occassions, I no my angles ( you guys know I know my angles) I can make the ball go crazy wide and close to the net pretty cosistant but sometimes it won't go wide enough now with him it's not my timing! not enough angle or power offer to much of an opportunity, buy lacking in one of the two departments and when it's lacking in both well You lose control of the point more often then not, which I did too many times in that match. You were well worth the win but my angles sucked. and it's been doing that with him alot At the moment. at the bigguining every shot was delivered with purpose without fail and that's how it should be. Or else you won't keep up with you top boys. But he is settling in and he's power is decreasing shots arnt as deadly so it's harder to put away shots. TRUE STORY

It would have been a funny addition to the game. But still think it's a headcase.

Maybe don't play as much with the player , or take a break from playing and see if it's the player or it's just you.

Many times when I don't play for a while I seem to be able to do things better then I did when I was playing a lot.

Rob ITST wrote: As far as pushing the correct direction, there's an easy solution for that: Don't push any direction. Just serve while holding RB, and he'll move forward automatically. Don't try to control him, just let him move himself to net. Only after the return is hit should you press a direction.
.

This actually helped immensely. Before, whenever I would try to S & V, I'd be able to do it occasionally, but I could never do it consistently. Reason being that my opponent would often hit a crappy, nothing return that I would either lunge the wrong direction for and watch float by me, or that I wasn't fast enough to reach before it bounced, thus putting me in a very awkward position in NML and having to play a groundstroke. Anyways thanks, this SERIOUSLY helped.

Burns is pretty fun to control, however when stamina is in red it's much harder to make volleywinners. Even easy put aways will end up in the net or will be a mile out :?

OMG!

I have just created F Burns, never serve volleyed in my life. Mainly because:

A) I was crap at volleying
B) I use roddick animation serve and it just doesn't go well

F Burns is brilliant! And from nowhere I can suddenly serve volley with really good success and variety, it was like i was born to do it!

Thanks Rob and co for all your old advice on how to do it. I use animation A and like you said just let the motion take me to the net and then just as they make the return hit the volley! I use both kick serve and flat to approach, not mastered the art of slice approach yet.

@Rob ITST - I will use F Burns mainly for fun at the moment until I have completely got used to him. If i find I am not quite there I will always resort to Cannon.

My question Rob is that Cannon on paper has a bit of ability to serve volley (81 serve and 69 volley). But will his speed on 58 slow him down going to the net or is the automatic approach motion the same for all speed players?

Obviously Cannon will still be a baseliner in the main, but when i re create him and use serve motion A I will like the option to serve and volley on the odd point :)

Any advice?

I enjoyed playing with Burns too. He's almost a perfect s&v character. I say "almost" because I would change one thing: a 90 serve and 82 volley. The 90 serve makes just the difference that is needed for a s&v player. It makes the placement of the serve just that bit easier compared to a 85 serve, which is so important when s&v'ing consistently. And taking 5 off volley wouldn't significantly weaken his volleys.
I really like all the other attributes though. The high speed is essential in both the serve and return games. The 79 wing in combination with the 89 speed makes him competitive off the ground as well.

Don't use A to sv on just a few points. It's all or nothing with that motion.

Hey rocketts,

Long time no play. Sorry, i saw you invite for a match the other day but was just invited to another.

Glad you like Burns too! We should play Burns vs Burns, it would be a right laugh :)

Hmmm yes i might use some of you above thoughts and try and go for a 90 serve (volley 70-80), can't think who else is on offer, Striker perhaps.

The only thing i struggle with is the power at 54, i ain't a great risker so sometimes i get overpowered in the few matches I have had. Yes the 79 wing (BH for me) is just sweet....

Striker has the 90 serve advantage but really lacks speed. He doesn't get to the net fast enough and doesn't really get into rallies in the return games because of the low speed. Perhaps switching the speed - stamina stats (60-71) would be good for Striker. Then you could have a useful power-oriented s&v'er.

Funny im preety good at S&V i do it off both 1st and 2nd serves but burns lack of power on the return make it hard for me to chip and charge effectively add to the fact my baseline game is non-existent
