Never underestimate the pain of a person, because in all honesty, everyone is struggling. Some people are just better at hiding it than others.

Yeah i am wondering this too... just using same lame technic all the time like a robot just to "win"... but win what? if you dont enjoy the sport (in this case) then whats the point?
but even in ITST there are people like that... no matter how ugly they play as long as their "technic" is efficient they'll use it even if it doesnt look like tennis. What a waste of time...

Honestly some people who play these tennis games don't watch tennis and therefore have nothing whatsoever to base their gameplay on.

Slicing every ball probably just seems safe

Well let's try to beat the slicers. Please mention the techniques you use. What I find to work on down the line slices is a control topspin shot deep crosscourt. On cross court slices, if you can get there soon enough, a flat power shot down the line. Get the slicer out of position by hitting control shots cross court every time they go down the line, until the hit a cross court slice. The problem is, especially against someone with slice invasion, you need to have really good positioning and timing to counter this. It's a game and not going to mimic tennis perfectly, but as long as the cheesy tactics are counterable (even if it's boring) I don't think any changes need to be made.

The one thing I do have a big problem with is the heavy outwide slice serves. I know it's in every game, but here you can get taken 6 feet off the court and then your player takes forever to start moving the other direction. Add to that with no risk you often give a soft return straight back to the server (it's almost impossible to hit a good return down the line on this serve) and you have almost 0 chance of winning the point. Any tips for countering this?

I still don't have the game!! Broke right now.

But on the demo, if you do the 'difficulty trick' to make the demo harder, Federer serves quite a few outwide slice serves from the deuce court, and I've hit a lot of winners by just jamming the stick to up/right and hitting a fully charged slice down the line that lands right in the corner.

Horrible Start and horrible end. You know what almost pisses me off even more?
I didn't even at least win one of those 5-6 close matches.
Just lost with Agassi against Lendl after 40 mins or so.
Playing for that time and then still losing in the 3rd set is f'**** frustrating.
I am done for tonight. :(

Of course there were situations where I knew that I probably would have won the point if I had abused the slice button, but I prefered trying something else. *sigh*

One good thing to do with the habitual slicers is to just pound it down the line. Alot of them like to slice down and force you to play up in no mans land and they usually like to cross court it back n forth. They get thrown off when you just come up get under the ball and whack it down the line .

I have the trait called "Semi volley king", it makes you hit the ball with accuracy on the first touch, so its a good trait to stop deep slices :)

Don't know about cheesers but already come across quite a few disconnectors not willing to see out a loss.

I have a counter puncher who has slice invasion. I slice all the time, until I see an opening, cause it's practically impossible to try and rally with everyone else, unless ofcourse they're a defensive baseliner like me.

I've also faced people who slice all the time with my all rounder and karlovic. My all rounder has the skill, shot counter. This nullifers all types of strokes, and uses your opponent's speed against them. It also returns the ball back with great precision and power all just from a single tap. Yes, no need to charge the shot and waste stamina.

Shot counter, fatality, top spin invasion, and a couple other skills I can't remember, can counter slices. You also have to give them different depths of shots, and abuse slices as well . That's the way i handle them.

Slices can be problematic, lol I abuse them as well, but they can definitely be stopped. The worst thing to face is a defensive baseliner with slice invasion/poison slices lol.

I didn't get dominated but i faced a guy yesterday who literally sliced every shot in the match and he could hit some insane angles...really frustrating loss, and there's a crack on my controller as a reminder lol

Scary reading :? . i'm quitting DMT because of infinite rallies, moonballers & slicers cheesers, and really don't want to find this again in TS4 :x

With the right skill and tactic u can counter the slice cheesers. I like top spin invasion for now. Haven't tried shot counter yet.

NickZ3535 wrote:Trust me, it's even worse when the other character has the trait "slice invasion". I played a guy that had this, and sliced every shot for the entire match. Slice invasion makes the opponent's accuracy go down the more they hit the slice, so it's tough to win a point. It's a really retarded/cheesy trait.

its way to early to call someone cheeser ,only because someone can handle a shot !!
when someone is playing alot of slice balls ,than this is not cheese

so i would be carefullly at moment to call someone cheesy !!

and by the way ,of course i buy a game to have fun ,but at end of the day i play a sportgame to win !!
when a real sportsman make his sport without the intension to win ,than its better he stopp his sport and works as a bakersman .

as a proffesionell sportsman you must have the intension to win - this also counts for a game ,esspecially when you play a competition like ITST .

as long as you follow the rules ,you can´t say its cheese

Yes. I played a couple of matches where the slice was abused. In TS4 you don't need to prepress. So if you do it you do it on purpose.

I try to avoid the forehand slices as much as possible. In Ts3 I prepressed so they happened. But in TS4 I don't....maybe by habbit hehehe. Onlybthe return I prepress at times.

I't's still early in the game but if you wanna use a slice invasion atleast try to hit the backhand as your slice side. Not forehand and all shots slice slice slice hehehehe.
