Feel the need for change?

Postby djarvik » Wed, 14 Jan 2009 23:25

I decided to simplify this poll:

http://www.intertopspintour.net/forum/v ... php?t=9815

No need to reply, simple "yes" or "no" will do. (but you are welcome to reply  )

I specifically posted a simple "yes" or "no" poll to see what majority of us feel. Sounds simple enough and no need to take it further and come up with different ideas if the answer is no.

The only reason that would make me vote yes would be to create the "pogagna's color rule" with more realistic set up.
10 XP minimum Between serve & returns, between FH & BH and between power & speed. 90-40 rule continuing to be applied
But I'm affraid it's too complicated to apply, very complicated and fastidius at least

the rule should just forbid an orange/orange or red/red f/b and serve/return layout. if you want to see the other side, you must put at least a yellow in between f/b and between serve/return. no 10 points difference or whtsoever :)

like this, you will AT LEAST have a 79 in forehand or backhand. we can also state that if you have a red stata the other must be white, if we want.

im sure there needs to be a rule change to make the game more fun to play. lack of variety is what kills the game :(

may it be pogagna rule if counting color points is difficult - for me the color points rule is already limiting superpowered characters.

and come on even a world number 1 misses easy forehands and backhands, so if he has 90 power, his fh bh shouldnt be over 80.

I think we don't need any more rules, but I also think that the colors method add more tactic and fun to the game: imagine if I know my opponent has a weaker backhand, I can decide to serve on his backand a lot of time and then serve on his forehand for try the ace, or I can play most of the ball on his backhand for put pressure and he can decide to risk down the line the point for go out of troubles! It's very funny for me! But I know that not everyone appreciate it, so, maybe is too much for a real rule... anyway, maybe we can decide an alternative rules of play, like Pogagna's rules, then, before the match, we can ask to our oppenent if he want to play with the normal rules or with the alternative rules. Obviously, respect the pact, stay at the loyalty of the players. Personally, if someone want to play me with more realistic setup and without risk- returns, just ask to me before the match ;)

i voted "yes".... i think two 90 attributes should be enough

from the last around 50 ITST and Xbox-Live / PSN matches i played in around 90% of the cases against players with 3 or 4 red attributes and i´m bored to hell

I am embarrassed to say but I have 3 red attributes. But a 20xp difference in FH and BH.

I do not play power tennis at all! Every time I try - I fail and lose. I play an all court game and really try to out think my opponent rather then power thru. I really use every shot in a game. Sometimes that is what gets me in trouble.

I got to say one thing thou, I played Rob yesterday, with a balanced (almost all 70s) character, and here are my impressions:

- if you are better then your opponent, you both will have fun, him losing and you winning, but fun for both.
- if your opponent is near or at the same level as you, BORE FEST! The game becomes slow, long and painful. The pace of the game really puts me to sleep. I am sure Rob can attest to that. Some people would love that, it really gives you more time to react, so more people will become competitive which is the only good thing about that setup.

Based on that, I am for change but strongly against underpowered and more importantly FH BH being 70, with no real weapon. I would prefer a large difference between the two, something like 90-60, or 90-70.

Yep, it was very boring to play against that character. If anything, the rule would help me make a serve and volley character that could be more competitive from the baseline - since my opponents strokes are weaker, I could use less points on serve and volley, and even if I kept the same setup, there's less of a difference - but it's not worth it.

I have to say as well, you guys are making me nervous. The season hasn't even been going on 2 weeks and there's already too much talk about needing new rules. :? But judging by the 2 polls that have started, it seems that most people want to just leave it alone.

Finding a way to make the game as realistic as possible in a simple way would be nice, but it probably just isn't realistic. I would be all for finding a way to make it somewhat more difficult for the usual power-monger tennis, but I just don't see an easy way to make it happen. The color points rule could work because it is relatively simple, so perhaps it would be good if some people could test a few different matches with it and see. Other than that though, I'm pretty satisfied with the rule where we have it now.

  u guys all know my opinion on 90-40 i hate it, i hate my setup (it works) thats the only reason i use it, if i use a "realistic" setup i would lose even worsely to my opponents i solely use my setup to stay competitive.

I've been retired from ITST because I don't like the risk shots bonanza as mentioned.

Anyway, I saw Popagna's idea of a Sim Tour Color Rule and I really enjoyed it since it will bring alot more fun like we had in the PC Sim Tour.

Then I saw some polls and posts regarding this but it seems a decision hasn't been made yet by the admin team?

I'm a bit confused, will the Sim Tour start in TS3 XBOX? I hope so and I hope to see an admin position on this :D
