Match Reports

Postby TomBs » Tue, 19 Apr 2011 01:58

As you might have noticed I joined ITST as a news writer, especially for the ps3-tour. But as a journalist I have to have sources for the news. My thumb is a great source, but for the variation and credibility it would be great to have more sources: Namely YOU!:D

As you may or may not know, you can add a match report when submitting the scoreline of an ITST-match. As you may or may not know, both players can do that after a match, not just the winner!

I hereby want to ask all of you to send in match reports about your matches, especially in latter stages of the tournaments (QF/SF/Finals). That way I can write news for all of you about all of you! Just add anything you'd like to say about the match: How did you play? How did the opponent play? Setups, type of players etc. Match statistics even if you like. See it as a post-match press conference, just like in real life. Anything you add could very well show up in the news articles!

And in case you want to have another say about a tournament/match you played, post it in the topic about the tournament, or - if it's not there - open up a new topic about the tournament!

I especially will try to cover the latter stages of tournament, but in the major tournament (Grand Slams, Masters series) it would be great to have reports for all the rounds.

So if you haven't picked up the message so far: Send in match reports!

Haha I really like this idea.. would be funny If we had our games recorded and had highlight reels of the best points ;)

A few things on my match with devilsrap though: I did indeed have two break points in the second set so it wasnt the same as the first & I'm not sure who told you he double faulted to give me the minibreak?? did he provide this report? lol - look below - as far as the result lets just say it was disputed ;) - I wont raise those past issues here. - so maybe call it rained out ;)

and the score was 7/6 6/7 na/na or 0/1 for the tournament sakes

Tombs here is a small match report for Gran Prix Hassan II
Likos defeats Oscarzero 6-2, 6-3

Stats:

The match was way better than the score says. I think oscar was just a bit nervous on the big points.

He had some glimpses of his great performance in two three games and i could tell that he is a very good player that needs experience.

Well done Likos. Oscar was on for a few hours last night, I doubt if he was Rusty.

I lost a WS match against him. His TI/MD combo is devasting. Likos obviously dealt with it better than me.

Congrats Likos your obviously going to one of the top players in TS4.

Thanks guys, i hope i can cope enough to be in the top, although time is an issue.

I guess the one that has the talent combined with days of training will be the no1.

Just had a cracker of a match with Itastallion in the Madrid tournament! I went into the match pretty nervous considering his reputation as number one and undefeated and started really poorly dropping my first service game. But I got my game together after that and had break chances but Ita managed to hold on to take the set 6-3.

I started off the second set badly too, falling behind 2-0 but then I managed to get my timing together and reeled off 3 games in a row and took command from there, breaking again to take the set 6-3.

In the third set, Ita lost some rhythm, probably rattled after I stormed back to take the second and he was putting more mid-court balls into play. I took control and managed to get myself into a 5-3 lead and held match point on his serve. But then I got nervous and my timing just departed me and I lost the next 4 games to lose the match.

We both had pretty much the same build too, Samala coach and mostly similar stats so it was a nice, even contest.

Pretty gutted right now I couldn't finish him off but it was a great match. Lots of momentum swings and drama. Hope to have more good, close matches with you in the future Ita. :)

thanks tiger

Yes i was definitely rattled 2nd set couldn't do a thing right it felt like.

then the 3rd set you choked a little bit near the end and i took advantage of it and luckily won... I use the term luckily cause if you had kept up how you were playing you would have finished me.

Don't feel gutted it was a great match we both tried very hard and even though i came on top this time i'm sure you will eventually get the better of me if you can play like you did.

also to add to the match report the overall won points was 80/80

that should show you how close the match was.

Yeah it was one of the two best matches I've played on TS4. I think it's always a tough loss when you don't convert match point but I definitely enjoyed that match. I thought you were going to run away with it after I was a set and a break down but I wouldn't have thought I'd lose it after being a break up at the end of the final set! To your credit, you didn't panic and played well when you had to at the end of the third. Exciting stuff. I'm wondering if this might be the start of a rivalry. :D

BMW Open (MS) Final Likos gets the better of The_hoff to capture his second title

Image

It was a lot better match than the score suggests. Its just when i had breakpoints i was converting with authority. Most games that i broke were deuces and 30 40's.

Good game hoff you fought the match despite the disappointment from the score.

Mutua Madrid Open (MS) Final

Likos straights sets Godzin to capture his second in a row masters title

Image

1set: If i remembered right i broke in the first games and was holding with some ease my service games. That only break proved enough as i didn't waste any more stamina(now that the new patch is out) getting to unreachballs.

2nd set: This is where godzin wakes up and pushed me a lot of times. I broke again in the first couple of games and godzin responded immediately showing me that he will not give up without a fight. In the next games i went through hell, keeping godzin from breaking my serve as i knew that if that happens then the decider set would come. 5-3 his serve i pushed godzin, breaking him once more and capturing the masters.

Good game godzin, although you had a new player, you still played very good. My advice is to not change players frequently. You are a great, fair player. :)

Gerry Weber Open (MS) Final
Likos gets the better of Enummievol 6-0 6-1

No disrespect to my opponent but this was one of the easiest finals so far in my career. He told me after the match that he changed player because of some arguments in the forums and he stills needs to adjust properly to his new player or to change to a new one.

Good game though mate, you are great sportsmanship :)
