Some guy i just played had crushing passing shot and instant rocket. i was federer. that with the easy lob, made any net play a complete impossiblilty, i made 18 net approaches and won 2. i just played another guy with the same stat and stayed back the whole game lol.

I don't know where to put this, but I think maybe in some future TS game, having a separate stat for 1st and 2nd serve would be a really good idea.

So you could have maybe 80 on 1st serve and 60 on your second serve, or whatever. It wouldn't totally solve the issue of there not really being a difference between 1st and 2nd serve but it would help.

It just hit me when I was watching a replay of Tsonga vs. Dolgopolov and I noticed how crappy Tsonga's second serve is in comparison to his bomb of a 1st serve.

That wouldn't be too bad really. Although there might need to be a maximum on 2nd serve. Or maybe not though, as it takes points away from other skills if you go for a big 2nd..

Yeah..I don't think there'd need to be a maximum on the 2nd for the same reason you said.

I think it would be cool to have a higher 2nd serve stat than your 1st serve; a lot of ATP players have better 2nd serves.

Yeah I agree, pretty much...as long as they implement them right, where every stat actually matters to a certain extent, then that would be really cool if we had a s**tload of stats to deal with. Forehand Spin, Backhand spin, half volley, blahblahblahblah

It popped into my head as well before so i have to agree. A good second serve can be a weapon. A bad second serve means your first serve has to go in and you will automatically take less risk on your first serve.

There is an exception though. If the first serve is to easy to hit there is no point in adding it. In TS1 for example you never needed the second serve if you where any good. Then people would never appoint points to a second serve stat.

Well, make it so you HAVE to add points to the second serve, and also make it so that the 1st serve is not 'TS4-easy'.

The mechanics/properties of the 1st and 2nd serve could be exactly the same, just with the inherent loss of power and spin, and the change in timing that comes with a lower stat.

Also you'd have to make it so you couldn't hit 125 mph kick serves on the 1st serve or something like that, which is the only problem I could foresee with my little 'idea' here.

I'm actually quite proud of this idea! I really think it's a great idea..
