The notion that Federer has to be 5 point over all better then Murray because Fed has 16 GS is so stupid, brrrr.... The skill level between the first 10 players in ATP is extremely close, it is the psychic, the small little details that set them apart.....not the 5 points overall. It is the "user" that should set apart Fed from Murray!

thank god, so true, and i'd say that the ability to be focus during all the match and don't have ups and downs is also the main difference between Roger-Rafa and the rest, but the difference in skill level is barely perceptible, i'd say more, Nadal, for example, is less skilled than most of the top 10 guys, it's the combination of skill, mental strength, and psychic what makes him the best right now.

Actually I loved the difficulty in TS3. Even the controls.

Funny enough I had many friends visiting me who don't even like tennis. I let them play all the tennis games I have but they preferred TS3 always. Because of it's complex ways.

I actually feel the game is great when both playes don't master it so well yet .
Once mastered too many horrible things happen hahaha.

I fear that will be the case as well in TS4.

Excellent point.

But, I will add that when both players who mastered the game agree to avoid the "horrible things" - it is even better then two players not knowing anything about the game.

You don't have control over where the ball lands .

For me it's a pity that TS never actually let's you place the ball. Resulting in that when you hit a risk and push up( deep) all your balls will be super deep. I mean how often can you pull that off in real.
Or the short LT- B . I LOVVVE the shot. But really that should be a shot that is very hard to pull off. A la Kim Clijsters ???
Short slices too easy . Long floaters on the baseline. etc etc.
Serve at a 90 % . Well you know

Once mastered it becomes a series of THE best shots people can pull off in a tennis game in maybe 1 or 2 points.

Also when my friends I there I play at the top of the screen. I can't hit risk like I do normal which makes it great fun.

EXACTLY! The most fun I had with TS3 was playing offline with 3 other people. Some of the enjoyment is the realtime in your face bitch! opponent and the subsequent shit-talking, but another big slice of happiness occurs when somebody tries a risk shot and it actually goes in.

Now it's not going to be about who risks the best, but who has the best timing and who constructs points better. I can't wait to build my player's stats up and use the strengths I give him/her, whether it be counter-punching or defensive baseline play, or serve and volley...

It's more about what YOU can bring out of your player now... I can appreciate that.

yeah...but you got it all wrong, from what I said.

I am a BIG supporter of risk. Risk is a well timed shot with a trigger pressed.

Now if you look at it this way, read your post again and tell me, does it makes sense?

I agree risk should stay. I've pulled off some amazing volleys, winners and passing shots on the run that wouldnt have been possible without risk!

To me yes, because I wasn't a fan of risk since TS2, so imo I'm glad to see it gone. If I had to learn it for another year of TS3 then I would but I wasn't a fan of it since the beginning.

Fair enough. Just wanted you to understand that TS2 risk and TS3 risk are two different things. You dont need to "learn risk" for TS3, all you have to do is do what you normally do - time the ball well, just make sure you have a trigger pressed. If your timing is good on regular shots - there is no reason it should be bad on risk shots. If your hand/fingers don't "go that way", well, that is a problem....control issue, not the games issue.

Risk in TS3 was designed well. It was part of the game. What made it too effective is positioning. It was too forgiving, with all the LB/RB crap. You didn't need to position yourself to pull off a shot, you just needed to be in vicinity of the ball and release on time. (see DMT for positioning)
