Do you use risk shots in general? how do you view that part?

Postby libatako » Mon, 20 Sep 2010 04:06

Ive just recently learned to use risk shots as if they were like regular well timed shots (duh lol)

So in a match against someone...risk shots back and forth....i decided to use a R2+L@ slice short because my opponent (a nadal user) was hunkered down way back ....and I knew that i wasnt going to outlast that type of playstyle (playing Roddick)

As I win that point with the really short slice, my opponent suddenly forfeits and leaves the game entirely. Seconds later I get a barrage of hate mail saying that it was cheap to use a slice like that....but on the same point my opponent was the one who did a slice like that and i just returned it and happened to win the point.
So more hate mail and now for some reason on his/her logic how I play this game dictates who I am in life < short version of the expletives i was called.

This happen to anyone? I mean it is a part of the game. Not like I picked the game up and learned it asap. It took me awhile to learn. But is a slice shot really that cheezy?.....I mean Ive play some people who are able to fire risk from the most insane postions and on the run scenarios where the ball is just about to touch the ground.....and they can do this constantly. All I can do is shake my head and play on.

Just remember, he wouldn't have said any of that had he won the match. Ragequitters are fine with any tactic until it results in them losing. Then, you're obviously cheating.

You didn't do anything wrong just ignore people like that (when they send you messages you can hit 'Block Communication' and they won't be able to send you any more BS).

yeah, did hit the but on block list. He/she still managed to get a bunch the hate mail in before being blocked.

ATM this player is still on.....makes me want to hop on the wife's ps3 and just harass the dude/dude't.

This is probbaly going to be a reoccuring issue when TopSpin4 comes out.

Never had this problem on VT..lol

I can concur with that...the only 'hate' I got on VT (VT3) was from people who thought I was intentionally lagging up the game (which of course I wasn't, since I'm pretty sure there's no way to effectively do that and still play). There's only two buttons in VT so if you won it's probably because you have considerably more skill than the other guy, and what's there to hate about getting beat by a guy who's just plain better???

@Edberg (jayl0ve) I won a match and then told the opponent it was cheap to use short risk slice. He was as mad as if I told him it was the reason I lost the match.

While your opponent may have said it because he lost, he is somewhat right in my opinion. Short slice is pretty cheap, use a dropshot instead

don´´t give a shitt on everything what a bad looser send you after a loosing match.
its allways the same- the shots where a player can´´t handle .....
or what makes problems for his gameplay ......he called directly the shot out as cheesy .

some are meaning doublerisk is cheesy
some say LT moonballs are cheesy
some others mean........
BLA BLA BLA BLA
there are no rules -(esspecially in WT) against short slice .
also not by ITST exist a rule -
so at end of the day you can play it
as long and as often you like

BTW:
you must not think about what a looser send to you
everyone have an other opinion "how toplay TS3"

I must admit to sending a msg to roddick player with me nadal saying, "well done you can short risk slice" It was just annoying because we were having awesome rallies with me getting around 60/40 of em.
Then after losing first set just short risk slice. I moved up close but it just ruins any fun out of it. I kept playing because I thought I could just nab another set to win. But when he won that set didnt want to seem like bad sport so played on and hated it. Anyone who uses short risk slice I just full stop hate haha. Harsh but it isn't anything complex to do with massive rewards.

Short slice is broken! Short risk slice is cheese to the max

This is why you see people abusing this shot in WT.

Don't take notice of hatemails though, no one should be insulted from having fun on video games
