Who all people always have said Nadal's just a clay courter, just knows hit and run, he is not as well not than Federer even than Djokovic, Murray, Del Potro, Verdasco, Gulbis, Nalbandián, Monfils, Tsonga, Davydenko, Roddick... even Perico el de los palotes... To all of you I respond: words are just that, words. But the only real thing is this: he's now the best. There's nothing to prove.
1 Rafael Nadal 12,025
2 Novak Djokovic 7,145
3 Roger Federer 6,735
4 Andy Murray 5,035
5 Robin Soderling 4,910
6 Nikolay Davydenko 4,150
7 Tomas Berdych 3,780
8 Fernando Verdasco 3,330
9 Mikhail Youzhny 3,295
10 David Ferrer 3,200
And, maybe, with a little more time, he'll become in the greatest ever. He has got all he needs to become the best of all time, and even though many of you can't assume it, assume it.
Djokovic said: “Maybe emotionally I was a little bit drained after the semifinal match, but I recovered. I had two days, and I was motivated to win this match, and this is one of the matches where the opponent plays better than you, and you just have to congratulate him and tell him, ‘You're better.’ That's it. I don't think I played a bad match overall. It was very good performance from my side. But whenever it was important, he was the one who was playing just too good.”
“He has the capabilities already now to become the best player ever. I think he's playing the best tennis that I've ever seen him play on hard courts. He has improved his serve drastically. The speed, the accuracy, and of course his baseline is as good as ever.”
I give a damn about sport, competition, rivalries, but do not know why I have always loved tennis. And what I like about it's not that Nadal is the best, but what it represents and transmits as a person in his position. Work, effort, respect, humility and desire to excel. What he said after the match last night in public to Djokovic makes it very clear that Nadal is, that for which I admire him and what should inspire us all. Regardless of who is your favorite. That's just a subjective and timely.
I give a damm about result, but I'm glad and happy with that result
