I think that might well become one of the most popular players. Decent strokes, very decent return, good power and good movement. You can get away with the weak serve.

He has way too much on power for a counter puncher. Should be around 65 or so.

yea with the highest power being 77 (jansen). it would have to be around 60 in my opinion.

I would really love a more well built serve volley SIMer.

Burns is quick etc, but his power is so low and his return is poor which means I can never use him in ITST competitively - a fun character to use in true SIM exhibtions though. Also a bit too short for my liking.

Striker is pretty much there but not ideal. His serve is great, his volley stat is fine, although he does not have one decent wing and he is a bit too slow / rubbish return.

Now 90 serve is imperative to hit the lines in my opinion and to be an aggressive serve vollier. You could drop the volley to low 80's, more than ample. Drop the power stat, pump up the speed a bit to get him to the net a big quicker

Anyway here is what I propose:

FH 54
BH 82
SV 90
Ret 61
Vol 83
Po 67
Sp 66
St 57

Height for me needs to be 6ft 2in / 4in.

Come on guys, what do you say? You won't see many players crying for a serve vollier! The above set up will allow me (and hopefully other players)
to serve volley whilst still being able to stay in rallies / return with some confidence.

Pleasssssssseeeeeeeeeee :swg

i completely agree... in theory. the thing is people would see

67 power
82 wing
90 serve.

and rarely if ever serve and volley with this character, and rely on a big serve and 1-2 punch.

Personally, i think for it to be a "true" weakness, you need at least one 50-59 ranked wing. and if you have two highly ranked wings, you need severe handicaps in power and serve, like bishop has.

The difficulty with serve and volleyers is that baseliners don't need to play at the net in this game, but net players HAVE to play at the baseline, at the very least while returning.

Also, i don't see why every player needs to have 70 ranking. For example, old bashmakov could have 90 serve, and indeed 90 power, yet only like 48 ad 46 on groundstokes. This would give him say, 68-9 overall, but we have seen some people would prefer this play style. I think nakamura needs about 5 points took off his weaker wing, yet don't think these points should be added anywhere else.

I would love a serve and volly player that could be dominant  but i'm not sure if it is creatable. We can sure try though!!

I just want to say that this all is very helpfull. So please, by all means, discuss! Make more suggestions and offers. This is really helping us in determening exactly what route to take.

Interesting topic is this.

Perhaps you are right Villa on the initial attraction to certain stats on power, wing and serve. Perhaps we could crank the power down a bit, 2 x wings down a bit and pop the rest on stamina and volley. Therefore, with these tweaks:

51 FH - a very low stat and needs a lot of skill to be effective with
81 BH - important to keep an orange wing IMO, to allow creativity
90 Se - as before important for S+V to have 90 to create the magic
61 Re - a low to average return, but enough to get into others service g's
86 Vol - anything in the 80's for me does the job.
64 Po - dropped the power by 3xp, sitting now halfway striker /burns
67 Sp - required for movement to the net as already discussed
60 St - good enough to last out some rallies

Foe me Jansen and Lightman are not true serve volliers as whilst the volley stat is great the serve is not way near as high enough to be precise.

So in my opinion there are 2 SIM volliers, and popping in the 3rd would add a nice bit of variety like this:

Burns - fast & nippy little S+V
Borris - aggressive, quietly confident all rounder
Striker - big, strong but cumbersome

:)

Jaylove the whole idea of this post is ideas on the SIM tour and how we are finding it, so character set ups is always going to be on top of the list.

For someone who doesnt play but just pokes his head around in forums you shouldn't really be too concerned

Djarivk and the team have and are doing a sweet job, if the above or any other suggestions don't turn into an change then cool, I could play with Cannon forever.

@ Al , just an idea but the current roster is brilliant, and yes there are obviously preferred players. However there are some players that never get used. Now I know we need to always keep a balanced set of players, and the less favoured ones like perhaps Fussman, Burns, Lorenz etc are always good fun to use in practice if anything but could you not think of a 1 new player every 6 months type thing?

Perhaps after 6 months, let a poll be created to decide which of say 6 current sim characters (picked by management) are the least favourite.

The one character that receives the highest vote, e.g. Fussman, scrap him and bring in a new character with a different name/stats. Perhaps using the forum to get an overall concesus on what people want, or just create one yourselves like before?

That way it will always keep the image of SIM very fresh
