Track and Field (xbox arcade)

Postby ati4850 » Fri, 16 Apr 2010 13:30

Have you played this old arcade game on your 360? For 400 M$ points its a bargain!

I had some friends over yesterday and we played this game for 7 hours. The toughest one is the highjump, we only managed to jump 2.44 meters, but I read somewhere that the record is way better than that. How do they do it? Timing is everything? You can't make the guy to run faster before jumping, so whats the secret? 8)

I'm proud to say I won the longjump though, 9.77 meters! :D

I love Track and Field and I play it quite a bit.

I have ALWAYS WONDERED how the top-ranked high-jump guys get their ridiculous scores....I have asked around but I still have no idea. It's probably some cheap exploit/bug. I think the highest I've got is 2.47 or 2.48 (I'd have to check on my Xbox, I'm just guessing but I think it's around there)

It's one of the most fun games ever to play with a couple friends (who are decent at the game...a lot of people seem to be unable to beat the hammer throw  ). Add me on Xbox Live and I'd be glad to play you anytime

I don't have Track & Field for the 360 but I do own a Japanese portable system that plays identically and has all the exact same events of the Track & Field game. In Japan this game was known as 'Hyper Olympics'
As you can see from the scratch marks, I've played the sh*t out of this game.

Ahhh handheld games. I still have a 30 year old football game that was my dad's, the graphics consist of little red LED blips. It is probably one of the best games ever, except for maybe a 20 year old car racing game I have.

It's still really fun without the powerpad, though. Trust me it is pretty tiring even though you're using your hands now.

One of my new controllers broke yesterday while playing this game.
Sure, I knew that the constant "wiggling" probably was bad for it, but what the h*ll! :?

Wow...I've been playing this game for a long time and never had that happen! What you should do is set aside one controller for strictly Track and Field uses....this way you don't screw up your controller for other games, because T&F WILL eventually ruin your controller. I just didn't know it would BREAK your controller.

edit: I just realized you said it was a NEW controller...that's even more strange. Maybe it was just this one controller

Well, it's only the left stick that isn't working. It died during an attempt to break my 100 M dash record. I will try to send it back and hopefully get a new one. These controllers are very well built and should be able to handle heavy abuse! :)

you must not send it back.

just call microsoft and say : my controller is defect , i do nothing bad , during playing a game like CODMW2 ,in a normal way ,and now i can´t direct the stick anymore.!!

you got a brandnew controller for free !!
all what you need is the id number from your x-box for registration by microsoft !!

you can do this only 1 time !!
all my friends from germany do that and it work perfectly !!

Check out his technique! It would be so cool to have an old arcade game at home.
