Postby Chederer » Thu, 04 Feb 2010 18:14

sup peoples'? i have been hibernating in my warm cozy cave for quite some time....thought i might stop by and say "ello" gooday" anyways to the funny story--i was playing TS3 last night---wife came in and kicked the xbox "football style" fortunately the xbox withstood the force--unfortunately the wife now has a sprained foot--just thought that was funny and i would share---BTW i am working on getting internet in my new place and i hope to be back by clay season--i really miss you guys and playing matches with everyone over the internet---have there been any changes to the characters in sim since ive been gone that i need to know about?

Video game consoles seem to have that effect on wives, or so I am told.

I do hope that after your wife fell on the ground holding her foot in pain, that you said, "Baby! Are you okay?" and then ran over and hugged your Xbox.

If you plan to use the Ethernet, then you are fine just with the modem, I assume they will provide the cable.
If you plan to use the wireless, then you probably need a router if the modem is not the so-called "gateway" shit that has built-in router functions.

First, check your Xbox to see if it even has HDMI output. If it does, then I'd buy one for sure - better picture quality and you need only one cable for audio and video.

DO NOT buy an expensive HDMI cable; 15-20 dollars is just fine. The best thing is to buy the shortest cable you can find, and make sure it's HDMI1.3 high speed (1.2 may even be fine for the Xbox, but 1.3 is probably the most common now anyway.) 6 foot cables are common, but I like 3 foot (less mess). 3 foot ables can be kind of hard to find, but I've bought about 5 of this exact one CLICK. No matter which cable you buy, unless you need one that's like 100 feet, you won't notice any difference from one cable to the next.

If you don't have the HDMI port on your Xbox, then just use the red/blue/green cable it came with. Make sure you slide the switch on the cable to HDTV, and go to the system settings and select 1080p for the display. If you use the cables that came with the Xbox, I'd go ahead and get a fiber optic audio cable. Just like HDMI, there is no difference in the cheap and expensive cables, and shorter is better. Just make sure it's long enough to not have any sharp bends - they're made of glass strands, and they can break.
