Fedfan Opens The Blue Group With 7-6 6-4 Win Over The Cooler

A really tight two set affair. The opening set was dominated by serve with TheCooler saving the only break point of the first set at 5-5. In the tiebreak Fedfan went up an early mini-break which Cooler recovered but then broke away again to claim it 7-5. Fedfan finished the 1st set with a first serve percentage of 100%

In the second Cooler carved out a 0-40 advantage at 2-1 but Fedan won five points on the trot to snatch the opportunity away. Cooler knew he had missed a big chance. When Fedfan led 15-40 at 3-3 he did not make the same mistake and broke before going on to serve out the match and make a winning start to his Sony Ericsson Championship debut.

In the end my astonishing 99% first serve percentage compared to 83% from the cooler was the slight difference as we both won about 75% of the points behind our first delivery but on the second Cooler was winning less than half of the points.

I'm happy to get a win on the board as I know I will be the underdog in the next two group matches.

I take it that it is actually 200 points for a group win and not 20?

Yes, the points are incorrect (2008 numbers). Should be:

Round Robin Win: 200 points
Semifinal Win: 400 points
Final Win: 500 points

The points are entered manually at completion, so participants will receive the correct number of points. The numbers will be corrected (on the tournament page) as soon as possible.

So, hold up? For the WS circuit for PC, it should read +200 points for each RR win, +400 for SF win, and +500 for final win.

That is pretty up there, from previous points received for the end-of-year championship. I am in two right now, so that will help out my ranking a bit. LOL.

Let's see if I can do well in the other two events for men. Hopefully, I can play in a third one for men's too. :P Thanks Coolhand Texas.
