new lady in town!?

Postby beltic caldy » Tue, 04 Aug 2009 21:58

played baghdad kebab in a one-setter in Roland Garos earlier - with new female character (Tray Cheek...dear me...sorry..seemed like a bad idea at the time....).

Really really great match - managed to throw baghdad off a little with variety of service - there were very few, well, one chance of break - wasnn't converted tho, and went to tie-break, which i narrowly won - i think the score was 6-6(7-5) - awesome match - some great rallies.

if i could play like this with my dude character, i'd be quite happy : )

maybe i can get a wee frock for him somewhere...hmmmm....

great game tho mate - looking forward to next!

Played Norberto earlier in one full match and then we played just a few 1 set matches after that. I lost the match 3-6 2-6 and all the other sets quite easily :( Just when I think my serve is improving I get a reality check from one of the masters of aggressive returning as he breaks me at will. The match completely deflated me and put me back at square one as I am more used to having really close, competitive matches with Norberto. I don't know what else I can so with the serve. I have tried having both 90 and 40 on it but same thing. I just can't put any damn direction on the ball - always lands right in the middle of the box. I don't know why I can't master a damn serve when every one else seems to be able to serve without any problems.....arghh so frustrating

My modem blacked out..i lost the connection:)

But i know what you mean...there are some people that invite multiple oppponents...by the time i get into the lobby the session is no longer available...so annoying

have we ever played eachother? like a full match? becuase you were kicking my ***---ure pretty dang good...

I decided to put 40 on speed, and 90 on return. seems to work just fine:) We have never played a full match...hope we will though:)

Played GOA yesterday, won 6-4, 6-4. Must say...a high return stat really does help. It was the reason i have broken him in that match. But i'ma add you to my balkanpower tag, so maybe we could play a practice match:)

I used to play with 40 on speed, I know that in rallies, you are basically in trouble.

Certain shots can really kill you too with 40 speed

With 40 speed I've been able to run down balls and hit em back with much more power and angle than before. With higher speed (but lower FH, BH) i could track down balls, but I couldn't turn my defence into offence. Basically, once I was on the run, I'd lose the rally. With 40 on speed I can still run down the balls, but because of the low speed stat i was able to put extra in my FH and BH....and now when on the run i can hit better shot than before. I've seen very wicked top spin cross courts i had never ever seen before:)

I would like to test your 40 speed

I also been using a new setup, which includes 70FH and 75BH. I want to see how low I can go on Strokes before I am being completely dominated. Surprisingly, it works for me ;)

hmm...some interesting new set ups for me to try here I think  I shudder at the thought of using 40 speed though. I just think your reactions to returning serve would be too sluggish and easily get caught out in the rallies by some short-angled cc topspin shots. Then again, maybe with 40 speed you could invest more in stamina and turn into an all out risker which could pay off

Just played a 40 speed guy in the Legg Mason, and he moved pretty well. Perhaps this is the way to go...

A new tie-break record for me in this match, Mitro222 won with 21-19 in the 3rd set breaker.

Yes, that stung a bit.

Every time I play someone with low speed, I hit a ton of aces.

...even a little bit of Response Lag will completely destroy your return game, even with 90 on return skill. If you cannot take that 1 step to either side prior to returning, you are doomed.

On the other hand, if you play against a Mediocre server or a Weak server, you will be killing him with 90 returns and 40 speed and 90 serve.
