Going to Army :(

Hey guys i dont often make topics but this one is a bit of a biggie at the moment to me , How do you cope with someone you love going to the army and potentially going to Afghanistan? Cos its happening to me and i cant accept it , i have nothing but admirtion for people doing it but its different when its someone close

I've never talked about this but I have 2 friends in Afghanistan RIGHT NOW....they're 2 brothers I've known since I was literally 3 years old. It is definitely tough to deal with.

As for you, I'd try talking them out of it, but if their mind is made up that's not gonna happen. There's not really anything you can do except accept the fact that they're leaving- sometimes life just sucks.

On a side note, my father spent a few years in the Air Force in the 60's/70's, and he told me it was the worst decision he ever made, and that he'd kill me if I ever joined the military :lol:

Yes i understand that very much i have friends out there too and thats why im so against this also , but he is very determined to do this and I know not for the right reasons but this seems impossible to get across, i totally agree with your father m8 tho , im totally against signing up to it

When people get these things into their head its very hard to talk them out of it.

However by the time he actually gets to Afghanistan things should be wrapping up there hopefully

I really just try not to think about it. It's too depressing to think about my childhood friends possibly being blown to bits by IED's on a daily basis.

One of them is a gunner on a Humvee :shock:

An incredibly dangerous job.

i can´t understand that some people will have this experience to go in war .
that is crazy ,but you can´t do much .
only talking ,talking talking about how bad the irak/afghanistan war is ,will help about
- maybe a few shocking pics from dead marines can help too !!
AT ALL ,when someone will go for free into war to fight and to kill people ,you can´t hold him back .

i will not start discuss about war ,but my opinion is
war is a big mistake(irak) afghanistan war is a big mistake - both are big big mistakes in my opinion
i hope you can hold your friend back to go to afghanistan

BTW:on the other side you got very cheap ,very good haschisch and opium in afghanistan

(yes i´m joking )

Yes i know what you are saying, i have nothing but upmost respect for people doing this , its just a bit difficult when its a family member , someone close etc, i sorta feel bad for talking about it as its not like its me thats doing it but yeh it is still a stressful time,

I know this is hard for you, but i think that the best you can do here is to support him/her despite you disagree with the decision, he will be feeling bad if he sees you suffering, you know what i mean?

Totally 100 percent will support decision , i just wanted to off load somewhat about it , the points that Jaylove mentioned are obviously the sort of things that play on mind a lot before i mentioned it on here
