You just don't understand :D

Once you become a decent player yourself you begin to see what's truly going on in SF2 matches, all the 'mind games' and what not.

Anyways they were cheering so loud at :46 on because #1 The guy playing Ryu is basically the best Ryu in the world, #2 He almost got raped, #3 He made an incredible comeback, and #4 He makes these kind of crazy comebacks all the time.

All Balrog had to do was hit Ryu ONE MORE TIME with ANYTHING. He could have even just forced Ryu to block a special move and that probably would have killed Ryu

You got to appreciate Street Fighter to feel the pleasure  This comeback was incredible, analogy to a tie break come back from 0-6 down.

I'll breakdown the different screams for you Moralspain:

1st screams - Balrog about to perform a perfect on arguably the best Ryu in the world (0-6 in tie break).

2nd screams - Disappointment for Balrog as Ryu gets consolation hit (1-6). Just delaying the inevitable Balrog win.

3rd screams (faint) - Mini comeback from Ryu. Faint cheer, as still unlikely to comeback to win, but a slight chance (3-6)

4th screams - Oh my God! What is happening! Ryu about to pull off the biggest comeback??!! Surely he can't! He is so close, but can really do it? (5-6)

Final screams - The climax!!! Finally a sense of euphoria. Relentless comeback witnessed, by one of the best in the world.... (8-6, finishing with a special move, like Pete's slam dunk smash).

It's not just a video game!

Yeah Zizou, that 1st one you posted is awesome, in fact the only reason I didn't post it is because I figured anybody who's seen/heard of Daigo has seen that clip. Daigo was just screwing around with Choi for the 2nd and most of the 3rd round!

What's really scary is that this guy I mentioned earlier, Tomo Ohira, is supposedly 100x better than Daigo ever was, except that he only played SF2, SF2: CE, and SF2: HF so he was around much earlier than Daigo.

take this for example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9YyLKWbiXk

That's Jeff Schaeffer (USA) vs. Daigo Umehara. Jeff Schaeffer is an 'OG' SF2 player (incredible Blanka/Guile player), who regularly played with Tomo Ohira and NEVER WON A SINGLE ROUND AGAINST THE MAN. Let me reiterate: They played/practiced together almost every day during the early 90's, and Jeff never got a single round on Tomo..and that's according to Jeff Schaeffer, I'm not just making that up. To be honest Tomo, from what I've read, lost at SF2 maybe 3 or 4 times during his reign. That's it.

Anyways, if Jeff can come off not playing SF2 for YEARS and perfect Daigo, imagine what Tomo would have done to him!! Unfortunately, NO VIDEO FOOTAGE (AT ALL) exists of Tomo's playing, but he is basically considered the all-time master of SF2 for his tournament results against extremely skilled competition during a time when SF2 was absolutely HUGE and EVERYBODY played it.

I'm a total noob at SF games... So do you guys play with arcade "sanwa" or "hiro" sticks? (i saw some made by special designers that were very nice!)

I'm a total noob and play with the PS3 joypad! Is it worth getting the arcade stick?

With the PS3 joypad, it's really hard to do moves such as Shoryuken, FADC, Metsu Hadouken... (I can do this once in half and hour of practice on a standing Dan)

I don't have the money right now to get one of those joysticks, but I'd love to. Especially for SF4. Mainly for the 3 button Ultra moves like I mentioned.

That's how you play Ryu against certain characters. It's not easy to chuck Hadokens at that speed, with an intelligent plan in mind. Sure, anybody can just mindlessly 'spam fireballs', but those people are no problem because they are noobs and usually have no friggin clue what's really going on.

There's nothing cheap in Street Fighter, there's nothing forbidden or taboo and no made-up rules like TS3. Some people like to make up various rules that they want you to follow, but those people are what are called 'scrubs' And they are never any good.

I actually had a friend 'ragequit' on me IN REAL LIFE like a month ago , in SF2 Anniversary Edition (you can use any character from all SF2 games up until Super Turbo)  Swear to god, I was raping him in the corner with CE Bison's scissor kick pwnage trap, and he literally pushed pause and hit 'restart'. I looked at him like, 'Wow...' I've had so many people do that in countless games online but to have it in real life, was amazing
