Are they dead?? Should they just quit or something??

How can you be 'done for' and still be the #3 player in the world
it's simple get beat by streaky quitters like berdych and tsonga now im really mad first tsonga now berdych total lack of respect for fed the give the all to beat him then choke a 5-4 serving for the set lead then quit like bitches knowing nole is going to feed them bagel thats why he maybe number three but he aint playing like it. he aint playing like the king of slams that he is. so unless he gets a non big hitter he may not keep his impressive 18 consecutive hard-court slams semi streak going.. im tired of thinking he will do it and falling short. though i will be supporting fed with a bottle of brandy beside my to ease the pain of any potential disappointment from him. one thing is for sure the one handed bh is dead it's looks like tennis willl be dominated by guys with double -handed backhands.

Yep. Remember when everyone wrote Pete off? But he was still reaching USO finals every year, and then played some of his best tennis to win his last one. Fed can reach the QF playing less than his best, and then he just needs a 3-4 day hot streak.

So true.

BTW: Not sure if this has been mentioned, but if Djokovic wins the USO, we will have three players who have all won 3 Slams per year at least once in their career. I doubt there have ever been 3 active players at one time who share that distinction, much less the top 3 players. I think this really is the golden era of tennis, and will be so for a very long time.

Yeah thats a good point. when you are still getting to slam finals yearly you can't really be called washed up. I remember when they spoke to pete in 2002, asking why that USO final would be different than the year before, and he just said 'because i had to play 3 finals before the actual one'. which looking at the draw he had to play rafter, safin then agassi before hewitt, so i think he was kinda spent. He probably would have had a decent 2003 if he had continued too.

Rafa, who has been struggling with his confidence, said that he does not have enough time to play catch-up with Djokovic this year. "I have a goal right now and that's improve my tennis to be good enough to compete against him for next year," he said. "For this year, I don't have enough time to practice, but hopefully for next year, yes, I have to change and improve a few things, and that's what I'm going to try."

So i can not expect good things for this USO :?
Never underestimate the pain of a person, because in all honesty, everyone is struggling. Some people are just better at hiding it than others.

How do you believe such things as a Rafa fan? he always put the pressure on his opponent with stuff like " Federer/Djokovic is the favorite , not me" if he play like today, i have no chance" im gonna lose"..come on man, he always say things like this. don't take it serious.

About Roger, i agree he still has some gunpowder in him, enough to get him maybe 2 more slams i hope. But yes, he has been beat by guys who are well know to be "party crashers" like Tsonga and Berdych, no disrespect for them, they are huge players, but every single time they assume the role of the "favourite" guy then they choke up.
Also Federers curse is happening, two players that beat him, two players that have to retire because of injuries... suspicious

Rafa is as good for putting the preasure to the other guys, as good as he is playing tennis! This year Rafa looks more human than ever, Djokovic has gotten to his head as he did to Rogers head... what comes around goes around... I think that more than practicing, because Rafa has the game to beat Djokovic at least once in this year, but his head is playing games with him, and thats what tennis is all about, mind games all things being equal, mind games make the difference.

Rafa always deflects the spotlight but I also think he is surprisingly honest when saying how he feels about his confidence. He seems to have Djokovic in his head now as Federer did with him. Nadal over 5 sets is still extremely unlikely to be defeated by all but a very select few.

I really hope this time Roger and Rafa are in the same bracket for semifinals because the US OPEN has been the only grand slam where they have never played against one another.

It really is strange that since 2008 it has been the same brackets for semifinals, Roger has played Novak in semifinals in the US OPEN since 2008, and Rafa with Andy M.... I think they are trying to FORCE a Roger vs Rafa final.... and I guess this time they should better bet for a Roger vs Rafa SEMIFINAL...

Its because roger vs rafa is the biggest box office draw in tennis bar none. I doubt any other match up could even come close. And if they met in a semi, if both guys were on top form it would be a painfully hard 5 setter and the winner would probably be spent for the final lol.

I'm no longer wondering who will win the US Open....

I'm wondering if there will be a US Open. Unfortunately, Mother Nature seems hell-bent on stopping it. :(

Sounds daft but could they move it for a year? Or would they just wait for the bad weather to end? I wonder what the contingency plan is for things like this.

I dont know how badly New York City would be effected by a hurricane but its about to hit where I live in the next few hours and its weaker than they were expecting so hopefully the same happens for New York.
