So, i opened this so we can talk about this pre-us open tnt.

i was happy to see a player (stakhovsky) wining with signum pro strings, althought i wanted gasquet to win. i have never seen anybody use that brand in the tour, lets hope more and more players realize the time of full poly string is finished.

...aren't full Polys are dead already? Most manufactures mix in other materials, thus making the co-poly. I think the original Polys that came in 90's, and were purely made from polyester only are gone now. Most new strings released now that are labeled Poly are in fact co-poly. The term is not caught up with every manufacture yet.

I am not the most knowledgeable in this area, but that is how I had it in my head.

Emate? :D Would love your take on this.

Cilic look like he is going out. What has happened with him this year, he has really not built on his Aussie semi at the start of the year like I thought he would.

Nalbandian won in 3 sets, honestly i'm pleasantly surprised because after he lost the 2nd i thought to myself "this is over, Nalbandian hates playing long matches and Ferrer is an specialist besides he´s suppose to be in better form than Nalban" but the argentinian did very well and never gave up

Gulbis is playing far better than Soderling.....the match should have ended while ago but the wealthy guy needs this:

Yeah, poly as a term is just used to define the category of string. A lot of players get too concerned with what the string is actually composed of (now with 8% unobtanium, sweet!) when it doesn't really matter in the end. That said, it's correct that there are very few strings made that are 'just' polyester as the term implies. You can usually tell the difference because they're quite a bit cheaper to produce, which is reflected in the final cost. I can only think of a couple off the top of my head that anyone has ever wanted to use:

co-poly = poly = durable, stiff string.
