suggestions for new tournaments

Postby didine17 » Mon, 21 Jul 2014 21:11

guys , i think it could organize tournaments with players who have a bad ratio together : i explain : i have 24 victories for 140 defeats since i play at tennis elbow 2013 ATP tour and i am list head number one also other guys have a ratio victories/defeats largest better than mine but they play less often than me in futures tournaments ; it s no sense.
and for the next future tournament who begin tomorrow i see 4 beginners : it s a victory i think : so take care about us : why? because these new players begin itst tour and they loose one , two , three ...finally they loose trust in their capacities so they leave itst tour also they like this game like the best players : so a few tournaments they win sometimes will be important for them
and certains players who begin at itst tour have problems to find itst guys to play friendly matchs because they are beginners of this game too and i think we need them!so everybody should help them i think
last think certains good players who begin at itst tour ask me how contact my opponent and what is the CET time and so on...finally they give up because itst organisation can be hard to understand about us ; so we loose very intersting guys : it s very dommage for everybody

I think you point out a good thing : certain tournaments, challengers could only be accessible with a low percentage of victories --> it should not be hard to make the selection manually if there's no script (the host checks the page before launching the draw to check if the ratio is above or below).

To set the good percentage I think it's quite easy : check analysis victories/defeat ratios of regular challengers/future tournaments players who struggle. Let's say 30% of victories maximum to sign up ?

Whats if I played 1 match and won it, so I have 100% W/L ratio.....I am out right?

Sorry guys, but that doesn't sound plausible and I am sure hosts will agree that it would take lots of work to check every time every player.

I am open to other ideas, that can actually work.

ok djarvik
i purpose those have loose at the first round of a challenger tournament could be transfered automatically in a future tournament
it could be true for 500 tournament to 250 tournament and so on...
like this there is more chance to play an interesting second match and guys are sure to play 2 matchs or more

If there is something reasonable that can be easily realized: We are all ears! All suggestions involving the host to decide on who is going to participate in a tournament or not is something I do not support.

However, didine's last suggestion does not sound bad. Let's take a look at an example: Say, on Monday starts some ITST 250. On Saturday of the same week an ITST Futures tournament is starting. Those who signed up for the Futures AND lost in the ITST 250 are allowed to play the Futures tournament. Those who are still in the ITST 250 tournament AND have signed for the Futures will be deleted from the Entry list.

If there are supporters for this idea, I will try that experiment. :p

how organize qualifications to play in a final draw for me :
for example , one week u organize a tournament at 500 the monday and one 250 and one challenger the tuesday :
well u change anything to the sign ip organization but you , if there are 38 players who sign up ( for the 500 tournament ) u keep the 26 best players who have signed up and the others play the qualifications to enter in the final draw : the 12 last players play to defeat their opponent and enter in the final draw
an other example , the challenger who begins the tuesday at 28 signs up : u keep the 12 best ranked players and the others play to win their ticket to enter in the final draw like in a normal draw with two victories to access at the final draw

So the goal of qualifications would be that low-ranked players play against each other?
That's exactly what already happens in Futures (and Challengers) and this is why we have these tournaments every week, I don't think we need to add complicated qualifying tournaments (which would either delay the start of main draws or shorten the sign up period for tournaments) for the same thing.

And maybe some new players actually want some challenges against high-ranked players, they want to test their level against the big guys, we should not restrict that in my opinion.

I think the current system is perfect: new players can choose if they want to stay among other low-ranked players (in Futures/Challengers) or if they don't mind the possibility of first round matches against top 10/20 players (in 250+ tournaments) or they can simply play both.

Didine's idea isnt bad. But it would only work if ITST was bigger. If there was 300 active players or something. Then u could only make a tourney as a lower player if u played qualifications. But there are only .....what? ....60 or so active players?? Way too small.
